Cristiano Ronaldo reprised his cover star role in this edition, but he was removed five months after the game was released. Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, Paris St. Germain's Neymar and Juventus Paolo Dybala replaced him on the cover and in the FIFA menu. Although EA presented the change as a mere mid-season refresh, media speculated that rape allegations against CR7 played a major role in his removal. | © EA Sports

2019/2020: FIFA 20 Cover

Different covers for different editions. Eden Hazard was the face for the Standard Edition, Virgil van Dijk for the Champions Edition and French legend Zinedine Zidane for the Ultimate Edition. | © EA Sports

Fifa 21

2020/2021: FIFA 21 Cover

The fist FIFA cover that has French star Kylian Mbappé's face on all editions. We got a pretty much complete new design for the cover – just to "go back" for FIFA 22. | © EA Sports

FIFA 22 Cover

2021/2022: FIFA 22 Cover

Is the next streak coming up? For the second year in a row, Mbappé appears on the cover of FIFA. There were old gen and next gen versions – and they were entirely different in terms of gameplay. For the French, things are only going upwards... well, he still is waiting for a Champions League title. | © EA Sports

FIFA 23 Cover 1

2022/2023: FIFA 23 Cover

Yes, there he ties his hat-trick for Mbappé. Massive changes are waiting for the FIFA series as EA and the Football Federation part ways at the end of 2022. In the future, we will get a new game called EA Sports FC. Therefore, Mbappé is the last player on a FIFA cover (by EA). But that's not all: Sam Kerr is the first woman to feature on a FIFA cover ever! Her version will be featured in New Zealand and Australia. Hopefully, we will see a global FIFA cover featuring women soon! | © EA Sports
