Top 5 LoL Players of 2021

5. EDG Viper

The Spring Split in the LPL was Viper's time to shine. No one could come close to the dominance he showed throughout the split, winning both the Most Valuable Player and Outstanding Rookie Awards. He was named MVP 10 times throughout the split as well.

4. HLE Chovy

Chovy was one of the best mid laners in 2021. His consistency helped Hanwha Life earn a spot at the 2021 World Championship, carrying the team on his back at times. Without his strong performance all year, HLE could not have made it to Iceland in October.

3. DWG KIA ShowMaker

ShowMaker... need we say more? This man was on a whole different plane of existence throughout 2021. He helped DAMWON KIA earn another 2 LCK titles, cementing themselves their own dynasty à la SKT T1.

One thing that was made clear this year, is that ShowMaker is not 'the next Faker' but 'the first ShowMaker'. He really was one of the best players of the year. | © Riot Games

2. FPX DoinB

While Viper owned the LPL Spring Split, DoinB owned the Summer Split. The FPX mid laner won the Summer Most Valuable Player vote and earned himself 10 Man of the Match Awards throughout the summer.

1. DWG KIA Canyon

Canyon is the best jungler in the world. He has a huge champion pool, can play macro extremely well and his mechanical skill is above many other players, making him the best player of 2021, even if the MSI and Worlds trophy evaded his reach this year.

2021 is coming to a close. Throughout the year, we had to deal with empty arenas and stadiums, enjoying our favorite League of Legends content from home instead of getting to go to the arenas in Berlin, LA and Seoul. But even though most events were played out in front of empty seats, we still got to witness some insane moments throughout the year.

So much has happened, and we got to witness it all. DAMWON KIA lost to Chinese representatives at both the Mid-Season Invitational and the 2021 World Championship, while running over any challengers on home soil. Faker has shown tremendous leadership throughout the year and G2 were forced to rebuild their whole team after an atrocious year.
