Halo Infinite Season 2 has finally released, and there are a plethora of maps to dissect. From Streets to Fragmentation, to the two new maps, there's a lot to love.
There's a lot to love in Halo Infinite, especially now that we've got our hands on the game. It feels great, it looks beautiful, and some of those Multiplayer Maps are absolutely fantastic. Speaking of Multiplayer Maps, though, we're pretty sure that you're busy wondering whether the game is worth it just for these. Well, now that we've played the game, we can confirm that they are.
Let's be real, unlike the likes of Call of Duty: Vanguard, which featured almost twenty maps at launch, Halo Infinite offers something a whole lot better: ten tight, well designed, and visually impressive Multiplayer Maps. What more could we ask for? Well, we could ask for the Campaign, but we won't be checking that out until December. In the meantime, here are those delicious new Halo Maps...
All Halo Infinite Season 2 Multiplayer Maps
Halo Infinite Season 2 introduces two new Multiplayer Maps, Catalyst and Breaker. Catalyst is a fantastic new Arena Map that will be wild with some of the various new modes that they are also introducing. The same goes for Breaker, the new Season's Big Team Battle Map, which could potentially be incredible for the new Battle Royale-like game mode, Last Spartan Standing.
Halo Infinite Map: Breaker
Breaker is going to be the perfect map to try out the new Last Man Standing... sorry... Last Spartan Standing game mode on. To be honest, this is basically going to be a Halo Infinite Battle Royale mode, so we are going to want that giant Big Team Battle setting to get the most out of it. That's what Breaker gives us, and it's fantastic!
Halo Infinite Map: Catalyst
Catalyst looks to take the world by storm with its grubby high-tech interiors. Honestly, this one looks like almost a classic Combat Evolved Map. Its greys and blues are imbued with an almost claustrophobic vibe that strikes fear into the hearts of all Spartans. We're super hyped to get stuck into some of those new modes in this bad-boy... I mean, just look at it!
All Halo Infinite Multiplayer Maps
Halo Infinite features ten unique multiplayer maps, some taking on a more traditional and open Halo-style-map, and some gracing us with close-quarters maps that are perfect for modes like Slayer. Let's break them all down, one by one, and give you some fantastic gameplay footage.
Halo Infinite Map: Highpower
Highpower is fantastic place to start in Halo Infinite. This massive open map is gloriously green, set at an outpost on the game's new Halo Ring. Perfect for some aerial combat, prepare yourself to race around in a Warthog, and engage in intense combat on this gorgeous map. This bad-boy takes us right back to the basics of what made Combat Evolved so incredible, and is unbelievably beautiful. Seriously, you need to check out those vistas!
Halo Infinite Map: Behemoth
This dusty map is one of the most visually impressive Halo maps we have ever seen, and one of the most diverse as well. With a circular ring around the edge of the map that is ideal for vehicles, the map centres around the giant "Behemoth" building suggested by its name. This building is an absolute blast to shoot your way through, and a great vantage point to take out enemy Banshees. The real take away, though, is the gorgeous view from the edge of the map. Truly stunning...
Halo Infinite Map: Fragmentation
Another large map, this is possibly our favourite large-scale map in Halo Infinite. It reminds us a bit of Blood Gulch from Halo: Combat Evolved, but which much more environmental variety, structures, and things to discover. This alpine valley is centres around two main vehicles, and is ideal for ground vehicles especially. We can see some really intense battles playing out here, and honestly can't wait to jump back in.
Halo Infinite Map: Streets
The first smaller map that we are featuring in this article, Streets is an intense close-quarters map made up of winding neon-lit streets, pizza bars, and corridors. Whilst it might not be as visually impressive as something like Fragmentation or Behemoth, it certainly shows off the gorgeous lighting and excellent asymmetrical map design featured in Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite Map: Deadlock
This massive night-time map is towered over by a giant cannon, and it absolutely doesn't miss a beat. Whilst we're not huge fans of night-time maps in general, there's a whole lot to love here. The lighting is absolutely incredible, with giant beaming white spotlights and less of an emphasis on the neon theme of Streets.
Deadlock is absolutely huge, and features a ton of different nooks and crannies, as well as wide-open spaces that are perfect for vehicular combat and your usual Halo mayhem. Guys, what the fork? Halo Infinite is just so freaking good!
Halo Infinite Map: Aquarius
A great little indoors map, Aquarius will be absolutely perfect for modes like Capture the Flag and Slayer. This is certainly not a particularly visually enjoyable level, but is something you could classically imagine in Halo Reach or Halo 4. A more traditional, almost Call of Duty-style three lane map, 343 have popped a bit more variety in here with some of that classic Halo verticality, and some super interesting vegetation. Those pops or colour are really appreciated!
Halo Infinite Map: Bazaar
Bazaar offers a huge amount of verticality in a small, close-quarters, and visually stunning urban centre. There is so much to love here, from the gorgeous orangey lighting, to that open central markets area, to the balconies that follow the streets and lead to deadly shootouts, this is one of the most intense maps in Halo Infinite. Let's be real, Bazaar has one of the quicker time-to-kills in Halo Infinite, along with Streets, but that does not take away from how fun it is to play.
Halo Infinite Map: Launch Site
This spaceport is a nice medium-sized affair that even features a few vehicles. That all being said, though, we will admit that this is one of our lesser-favourite maps, seeing as it's a quite visually unimpressive affair, and not the most enjoyable to explore. Look, it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, it just has none of those wow factors that you expect from a good Halo maps, and certainly the weakest on this list so far.
Halo Infinite Map: Live Fire
This medium-sized outdoor map offers a lot, but in a smaller and more succinct environment. Don't forget, though, this isn't Call of Duty, there is real verticality here, and plenty of opportunities for flanking, sniping, and - most importantly - exploring. Oh, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. We're not really sure how it is possible to 343 Industries to have made a bland white building complex so beautiful, but they managed it. They really, really managed it. Fantastic!
Halo Infinite Map: Recharge
Recharge feels like something straight out of Halo Reach, and that's absolutely not a criticism. Honestly, this map brings back a whole lot of nostalgia as, much like Highpower and Fragmentation, it brings us right back to the basics of what makes Halo such an iconic and incredible franchise. These indoor spaces give us a huge amount of verticality, and give us a huge amount of opportunities for flanking and taking on your opponents in interesting and entertaining ways.
Halo Infinite is an absolute marvel to enjoy. Chock-a-block full of absolutely fantastic maps, we can expect to call some of these "classics" before to long... and this is the preseason! Since the Multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite is free-to-play, we can expect CoD-style Seasons to come over the following months and years. Honestly, we can't wait to check out what 343 Industries has in store for us yet!
