5. FIFA 94 / FIFA International Soccer: For the nostalgic ones. We sorely miss one feature. In 1993, it was possible to run away from the referee after a foul - and to escape the yellow card. That would be just another way to trigger your opponents in Ultimate Team. In our opinion, the first part of the FIFA series absolutely deserves its place in our ranking! | © EA Sports

4. FIFA Football 2003: A classic. However, FIFA Football 2003 did not find its way into our ranking with its gameplay or its special content, the reason is different... namely 97. Up until the release of FIFA 03, there was no player who could achieve a rating of 97. But who was it? Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, David Beckahm? No - Matteo Brighi!

Don't worry, you don't necessarily have to know the Italian. It is arguably the biggest misjudgment in FIFA history. The best young player of the Serie A in the 2001/02 season should be the new hope for Juventus. The hype was big... probably too big. Brighi could not establish himself at the top international level, let alone live up to his 97 rating.

Today, Brighi is the second-strongest player in FIFA history. A year later, Ronaldo received a 98 - EA wanted to make its mistake forgotten... Nevertheless, Brighi remains a true FIFA legend in our hearts! | © EA Sports

3. FIFA 10: Probably the best Barcelona ever. There have been a few of them, but we are committed to the 2009 Barca. But teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan were full with (upcoming) legends. The fight for international honors was more exciting than in any other FIFA!

2. FIFA 14: The first triple Bayern. In fact, for FIFA, the only triple Bayern, because the ratings in FIFA 21 were just a shame. But that's another story... Before we cry on, let's get a few facts out.

The first FIFA for the PS4 and Xbox One is one of the top rated FIFA editions. On Metacritic, FIFA 14 achieved a rating of 88. In comparison, FIFA 21 only got a meager 72 points. The newly introduced Ingnite Engine raised the gameplay to a completely new level. So our memories of Bayern are not deceiving us.

1. FIFA 06: Ronaldinho, Zidane, Beckham, Figo - it hurts that we cannot list all the legends here. FIFA 06 will stay in our hearts forever. Imagine: Today, you have to sweat, cry and pray to get these legends in Ultimate Team... back then, you could sign them in career mode. An attack with Thierry Henry, Alessandro Del Piero or even Hernan Crespo... tears come to our eyes. But the combination of Gilardino and Podolski also had its charm. A game lasts 90 minutes - or until it is 4:4 in the Weekend League. How many innocent controllers are smashed against the wall every year? Well, only the FIFA god himself can answer this question. The momentum strikes in the bitterest of moments... has so for quite a few years now. We keep buying FIFA every year, though. Somehow, we just love the adrenaline. The pulse. The rage quit.

Even if FIFA has only developed slowly over the years and has rarely surprised with revolutionary innovations, each part was able to offer its own atmosphere. The latest transfers, the jerseys, the soundtrack. These details just make a lot of difference, especially for football fans. The large number of licenses in FIFA is also nice to have, of course.

FIFA 22 will be out in about a month, but we still want to take a look back. Which FIFA was the best? What do our memories say about the last few years? Has the FIFA franchise really gotten any better? Let's find out!
