In case you are wondering... no, in FIFA 11 there was no special card design for the TOTY cards. Nevertheless, we don't want some of these football legends to be forgotten. It's obvious that Ronaldo and Messi were around even back then, but who can still remember Lucio and his sick dribbles all over the pitch?

TOTY FIFA 12

How do you know you're getting old? Well, when there are suddenly two Manchester United players in the TOTY.

No front, but in the past the Red Devils were simply better. And hey, the cards are actually blue. The design is not as nice as in FIFA 22, but Ramos, Rooney and Vidic are definitely worth looking at. | © EA Sports / EarlyGame

TOTY FIFA 13

Fun Fact: TOTY in FIFA 13 consisted exclusively of LaLiga players. 5x Real Madrid, 5x Barcelona and a lonely Radamel Falcao as striker. What Messi pulled off in the early 2010s is just insane - and his card reflects that.

TOTY FIFA 14

One word: Zlatan.

At that time he even had quite some pace, in FIFA 22 there has to be a winter wildcards event before you can find Ibra in some FUT teams. TOTY FIFA 15

Cool, some new faces again. Philipp Lahm, Arjen Robben and Angel di Maria were/are all absolutely talented players, but were by no means permanent guests in the Team of the Year.

TOTY FIFA 16

It must have been the time around FIFA 16 when Paul Pogba was one of my all-time favorite cards. Either nostalgia is playing tricks on me, or I've only got positive memories of his TOTY card. Of course, 97-rated Neymar - MSN top 3 striker trio of all time, by the way, fight me - was also over-the-top good in the meta... just like every year actually.

TOTY FIFA 17

Good ol' times, when Sergio Ramos regularly occupied one of the two centre-back spots on the Team of the Year. Pepperidge Farm remembers. It was such an amazing time and that's why we don't want to deprive you of his card.

FIFA 18 and yet another 99 Ronaldo... what do you think, TOTY cards always look pretty hefty, but when someone gets a 99 rating it adds a bit of extra spice, doesn't it? Barca returnee Dani Alves and Kevin de Bruyne were also two top class FUT cards.

You think Presnel Kimpembe in FIFA 22 is the most annoying player ever? Then let us introduce you to TOTY Varane from FIFA 19, we still wake up in the night sweating due to this guy.

TOTY FIFA 20

Virgil - I casually got a 99 rating from EA as a centre-back - van Dijk.... what a card! In the past, defensive players usually wouldn't surpass 94 or 95, in FIFA 20, though, the Dutchman was one of the best cards ever.

Say what you will about last year's TOTY, but the card design in FIFA 21 was boom boom pow pow spot on, wasn't it?

While Mbappé wreaked havoc up front, Alphonso Davies dominated the left wing... or, you know, the central defence... with his player model. Just FIFA 21 things. Bruno Fernandes was also quite useful in the Weekend League.
