Do you want to try something different? You like LMGs but don't feel like using the Bren, Whitley or Bruen? Well, the RPD is better than its reputation might suggest, and we have the perfect Warzone setup and loadout for you.
LMGs have always been an unpopular choice, especially in the early days of Warzone. They were simply too inaccurate and too slow. Sure, there were exceptions here and there, like the Bruen MK9, but overall, light machine guns were rarely seen in Warzone during the Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War eras. But that changed with Vanguard, which brought LMGs like the Bren into the picture. Vanguard showed us that LMGs had a place, and now looking back, we can recognize that we might have overlooked the RPD.
The RPD dates back to Black Ops Cold War and was considered unplayable for a long time because the recoil was just so strong. But it received a few minor buffs here and there, and now the recoil is about average. And since the weapon comes with a fairly big magazine by default, you can use your attachments to counter a lot of its weak points. Overall, the RPD is a weapon for medium to long ranges that has been unjustly neglected so far.
The Best RPD Attachment Setup
Muzzle | GRU Suppressor |
Barrel | 20.3" Task Force |
Optic | Axial Arms 3x |
Underbarrel | Spetsnaz Grip |
Magazine | 120 RND |
We're using a fairly typical build here for a long-range assault rifle. The silencer is mandatory because it prevents us from appearing on the minimap. The barrel boosts range and damage, and the Axial Arms is easily the best sight in BOCW when it comes to mid-to-long ranges. The 120 round mag gives us a ton of extra ammo, so we can spray and pray our enemies down. Pretty standard for BOCW guns.
Equipment & Perks For An RPD Loadout
The Best Secondary Weapon For The RPD
This is by far the best SMG in Warzone right now, and to be honest it ain't even close. The Marco 5 has insane mobility and a great TTK. Basically, all the things you want and need in a meta SMG. Until this gun is nerfed, there really is no reason to use anything else as a close range option.
The Best Equipment For The RPD
Lethal | Semtex |
Tactical | Snapshot Grenade |
When it comes to the equipment, there is nothing particularly unusual here either. We rely on Semtex because it's incredibly versatile and works wonders against both infantry and vehicles. It's also pretty damn satisfying when you can stick someone. And Snapshots are just a great all-rounder for a support player.
The Best Perks For The RPD
Perk 1 | Cold-blooded |
Perk 2 | Overkill |
Perk 3 | Amped |
Again, a very typical setup. We need Overkill to be able to carry both weapons. Amped allows us to switch out the heavy RPD more quickly. And Cold-blooded not only protects us from thermal sights, but above all counters the Combat Scout perk. So they won't get free pings on us.
That was your complete guide to the RPD. If you're bored and don't want to keep chasing the meta, give it a try. Otherwise, the Bren is probably the next best choice.
