The Vargo 52 Assault Rifle - Best Warzone Loadout & Unlock Guide

We don't often get Year-2 content in CoD games, but we've gotten some great weapons this way in the past. BOCW's first year 2 offering was the Vargo 52 pictured above. It's got a wonderfully forgiving rate of fire, and pretty balanced stats overall, so it makes for a great single-primary-loadout. How Do You Unlock The Vargo 52?

Okay, this is where it gets weird. The Vargo 52 assault rifle was unlockable in Modern Warfare 2019 before its official release, but not in Black Ops Cold War itself. Since the proper release, however, there are now official challenges to unlock the weapon in BOCW, but the detour via Modern Warfare still works and may even be faster:

• BOCW Multiplayer: Do at least 1000 damage with assault rifles in 15 different matches. To be safe, you should do about 15-20 kills per match, and you must finish all matches, or they will not count towards the challenge.
• BOCW Zombies: Get 750 kills with an assault rifle upgraded three times on the Pack-a-Punch machine.
• MW2019 Multiplayer: Do at least 1000 damage with assault rifles in 15 different matches. In Modern Warfare you don't have to finish the matches completely, but only get about 15-20 kills – after that you can leave the match and start a new one.
• Store: You can, of course, simply buy a bundle in the store that includes a blueprint for the Vargo 52.

The Best Vargo 52 Attachment Setup

This is a fairly conventional BOCW AR build, but it's been working for over a year now, so why not. We're basically maximizing range and velocity, staying off radar, and trying to get some recoil control with this set of attachments. The only variation you might choose is a different optic, because with a gun like this that can handle short range, using the Microflex LED would also make sense.

With a weapon like the Vargo, we don't necessarily need a secondary weapon, so instead, we're going to take the Top Break revolver. And with the above setup, the Top Break turns into a little shotgun thanks to M15 Shot Shell ammo. Couple this with Akimbo, and we've got a lethal weapon for close-range. The Best Equipment For The Vargo 52

We're taking more aggressive equipment choices than normal because the Vargo's fast rate of fire allows it to be pretty strong in close quarters compared to other ARs. Stuns can help us check for enemies, but will also help us on the push to get an advantage. Semtex is just a great all-around grenade choice for aggressive players.

The Best Perks For The Vargo 52

"Tempered?!" I hear you splutter. Yes, indeed, because Ghost is finally becoming less dominant thanks to more expensive UAVs and the nerf to Heartbeat Sensors and the perk itself, and because we don't need Overkill in this loadout. So we're taking Tempered for faster replacement of our plates. In the first and third slot, we've kept things route 1 though; E.O.D. is the most commonly useful passive buff, and Combat Scout is fantastically effective on the new bush-heavy map.
