Goodbye, Iron Trials. Now, don't worry, it's basically been confirmed that they will be bringing it back at some point; it was simply too popular not to. But what's replaced it for now? Rebirth Resurgence Extreme and Realism Battle Royale.
We'll get into the rules below, but basically, Realism will be perfect for the more serious mil-sim guys, whereas Resurgence Extreme is built for the more arcade-y experience. A great mix for the week.
Update: We updated this article on October 4 with the details of an update Raven Software made to Resurgence Rebirth Extreme.
How Does Realism Battle Royale Work
Realism Battle Royale can be played with duos, trios, or quads, and it's exclusive to Verdansk. Here are the rule changes from normal BR:
- Increased headshot damage
- Limited HUD
- No minimap. The main map must be brought up manually, which will block a player’s view.
- Teammates won’t be seen on screen, but only on the map
This is a fun experience, but you'll perform better with slower, passive play - so if that's not you, then check out Resurgence Extreme beneath.

Rebirth Resurgence Extreme
Rebirth Resurgence Extreme is almost identical to Rebirth Resurgence Quads, with the exception that there are 60 players rather than 40 on the map. Resurgence Extreme is a chaotic game mode that will feel a lot closer to multiplayer - it's sure to go down well in certain circles.
They've been quite smart here - these two modes will appeal to either end of the Warzone player spectrum. We hope you can enjoy one of these modes with your squad over the weekend - good luck on the dubs.
Update: The mode originally had 64 players in the lobby at once, but this was lowered to 60 by Raven in a later update.
