Treyarch has finally revealed what's to come in Black Ops Cold War Zombies Season 6. The final round-based Zombies map to come to BOCW is due to release when the new season drops on October 7, and will be called Forsaken.

As confirmed in a post on Treyarch's website, the final chapter of Black Ops Cold War is set to release with Season 6 on October 7, bringing "the ultimate showdown between Requiem and Omega group". It concludes Dark Aether's opening chapter, to be continued in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Look, Zombies isn't particularly famous for the quality of its story. It's always very cheesy, very silly, and utterly incomprehensible, and whilst BOCW was no different, it was certainly a step-up. Since Black Ops Cold War Zombies' new Forsaken map is set for Season 6, and will conclude the game's storyline, we expect that we'll start to see teasers for Vanguard's Zombies mode.

All Forsaken & Zombies Details

BOCW Season 6 brings the brand new Forsaken turn-based map, ends the game's chapter in the Dark Aether saga, and introduces a bunch of other features. You can see everything in far more detail in EarlyGame's BOCW & Warzone Season 6 Roadmap breakdown. There you can find everything that has been revealed about Season 6 in a condensed and easy-to-understand form. Here's a very brief summary:

  • New "Forsaken" map becomes the final entry in the BOCW Zombies saga. It will prepare us for the next chapter in the Dark Aether story, which is set to come out with Call of Duty: Vanguard on November 5.
  • The final perk is set to join BOCW Zombies, the PhD Slider, which looks pretty neat.
  • A new Wonder Weapon is coming, set to "split zombies like wood". It's called the Chrysalax.
  • The new ARC-XD Support Weapon is coming, as is the Hand Cannon Super Weapon.
  • New multiplayer map Deprogram is coming to Onslaught (PlayStation Exclusive)

Again, don't forget to dive into the roadmap for more detailed information. More importantly, though, you need to get yourself prepared for the continuation of the Dark Aether story. Season 6 has now been released, BOCW's last chapter before Call of Duty: Vanguard, so you should catch up before the new game releases. Here is Activision's description:

In “Forsaken,” the final round-based map in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, the team is ready to finish the fight at the heart of Omega Group: a secret test site in the U.S.S.R. that threatens to invite an even greater supernatural threat into the world. Behind the scenes, Requiem’s secretive Director makes the call to approve Maxis for “Operation First Domino” as Requiem and Omega prepare for the final showdown.

We have a full-on breakdown of the Dark Aether story so-far, and will update it once we have had time to dive into Forsaken. It looks pretty amazing, and we are very excited to see how everything turns out. The new turn-based map is only a few hours old at the time of writing, so bare with us as we come to you with more analysis.

In the meantime, keep reading for our pre-release coverage of BOCW's Season 6 Zombies Forsaken Map.

Over a period of teasers released on Treyarch's Twitter page, we were presented with the scenario we'll be facing in Forsaken. As expected, it's pretty much incomprehensible, so we're not even going to even try to make sense of it. Just take it from the horse's mouth:

Requiem’s Director has plans for Samantha Maxis, employing unorthodox methods to “help” her understand the powers she has developed during her time in the Dark Aether. Requiem and Omega have embarked upon rival operations to extract Sergeant Kazimir Zykov from the Dark Aether, believing this “lost Russian” – the Soviet soldier who closed the portal at Projekt Endstation – will be the key to preventing a destructive force from entering our world... And now, Omega defector Sergei Ravenov has provided Requiem with intelligence detailing a massive new Aetherial portal being constructed in western Ukraine...

As I said, incomprehensible. Anyway, we're sure that you'll figure it out, and it'll all be made clear when the new turn-based Zombies map, Forsaken, drops next week. It's kind of sad to say goodbye to Black Ops Cold War's Zombies mode. After all, we did label it as the best CoD Zombies when we ranked all Zombies modes a few months ago.

What is Forsaken in BOCW Zombies Season 6?

Forsaken is the new turn-based Zombies map coming to Black Ops Cold War in Season 6. It will be the final turn-based map to grace our presence in BOCW, and hopefully a fantastic send off for what some of us believe has been a sublime CoD Zombies mode.

Now, before we head off to shed a few tears over the end of BOCW Zombies, it's time to talk intel. We have been warned by Treyarch that more teasers will be released over the next few days, revealing further information about what's coming in Forsaken. Here's the first teaser. What do you think this is all about?

Treyarch Studios teased a letter between Carver and Strauss, as well as a drawing of something called Chrysalax. It seems to be some kind of ancient weapon that we'll need to defeat BOCW's final Zombie boss. At least, we assume that we'll fight some kind of big-boss monster... What could it possibly be?

Carver,One of our teams recovered this from the Dark Aether. Seems to be a schematic for an ancient weapon. Looks like you'll get your wish for an "Authentic Dark Aether weapon" after all. - Strauss

We're enjoying the leadup to Forsaken in Black Ops Cold War Zombies Season 6. The teasers have been fun, extensive, and have yielded a lot of discussion over what could possibly happen next, how BOCW Zombies will be wrapped up, and what all of this means for Call of Duty: Vanguard's Zombies mode. Well, we won't have much longer to wait until we find out for real.
