How can one be both eerily charming and somewhat spooky simultaneously? Is the key simply perfecting the art of a steady gaze, or must you tap into your inner Jenna Ortega? Whatever her magic formula, she embodies Wednesday Addams flawlessly, and we’re fortunate because she's returning for season 2. We’ve gathered all the exciting details for you—from the expected release window and cast to every piece of news you’re eager to hear!
For all of Netflix's faults, they did a lot of things right with Wednesday – and it showed. The adventures of odd Wednesday Addams, played by the wonderful Jenna Ortega, have been a smashing hit for the streaming platform. And even better, the iconic Addams Family got a whole new audience by proximity.
It's no surprise that fans are eagerly anticipating the second season, so here's everything we know about the potential release date, cast, plot, and more.
Fueled by its dark, morbid humor and the stellar performances of Jenna Ortega and her co-stars, Netflix's Wednesday became an internet sensation. Remember when that dance was everywhere? I sure do. Now, let's explore the latest developments in the world of Wednesday!
Wednesday Season 2: Release Date Expectation
Although Wednesday likes to torture people, Netflix don't want viewers to suffer: Wednesday has been officially renewed for a second season.

Filming is started in April 2024. We can therefore make an educated guess as to when you should expect Wednesday season 2 to hit Netflix.
Considering that it took the show almost 15 months after filming started for the first season to finally release, this would mean that we can expect Wednesday season 2 to come out in the middle of 2025. Ouch!
Regarding the second season, we also know that they had to relocate shooting from Romania to Ireland, which was probably due to logistical challenges. How that might impact the show remains up for debate, but maybe we won't even notice?
Wednesday Season 2: Confirmed Cast
For the cast of the next season of Wednesday, we already know that Jenna Ortega will return as the titular character. Duh. We're all thankful, but: huge duh! What about the rest?
Catherine Zeta Jones has also confirmed her return as Wednesday's mother, Morticia Addams, and might finally get a little more screen time. We would really love to see the mother-daughter-dynamic play out a little more in season 2.
Besides those two, we expect the following cast members to make their return:
- Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair
- Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay
- George Farmer as Ajax Pertropolus
- Naomi J. Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka
- Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin
- Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams
- Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams
- Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
- Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin
- Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger
- Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort

New members with unknown roles will be:
- Victor Dorobantu
- Luyanda Unati
- Lewis-Nyawo
- Billie Piper
- Evie Templeton
- Owen Painter
- Noah Taylor
The cast reveal also shows some guest stars:
- Joanna Lumley as Wednesdays Grandmother
- Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
- Jamie McShane
- Frances O’Connor
- Haley Joel Osment
- Heather Matarazzo
- Joonas Suotamo
- Christopher Lloyd
- Thandiwe Newton
One name you might miss on this list is Percy Hynes White as one of Wednesday's potential love interests, Xavier Thorpe. The thing is, Percy was accused of sexual assault, and so he's been written out of the show for season 2. Although the allegations have neither been proven, nor debunked, it looks like the showrunners simply didn't want to associate with the actor any longer. Definitely the safest decision.
What Can We Expect From Wednesday Season 2?
Regarding the direction for season 2, in an Actors on Actors video produced by Variety, Jenna Ortega revealed their plans to focus on the horror elements of the show and “ditch any romantic love interest for Wednesday”.
We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.
The focus of the show is going to stay on Wednesday, though other characters from her special family will make appearances on the show. Especially, her relationship with her mother Morticia is described by creator Miles Millar as essential to the show.
These changes are likely to be well-received by much of the fan base. Additionally, they need to resolve the cliffhanger from the first season. For instance, who is the enigmatic figure following Wednesday, and what are his intentions? Many mysteries remain to be solved, without a doubt.
As soon as there's more to report, you can bet you'll hear it from us!
