Shang Chi actor Simu Liu talks about the future of the franchise, and the next phase of the MCU.
The first Shang-Chi movie came out in 2021 and was a surprising hit for the MCU. The thoroughly choreographed action combined with decent humor made for a good entry in the Marvel catalog.
Though we haven't heard much about the sequel, Simu Liu confirmed that it's on the way.
Shang-Chi And His Role In The MCU
In the post-credit scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Shang-Chi meets with Wong, Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner, to tell them about the origin of his weapon.
This teaser most likely sets up Shang-Chi as a possible future member of the Avengers cast.
In an interview with Comic Book, Simu Liu stated that the sequel is definitely coming, but it is unclear, when it will release.
A lot of it is above my pay grade, but it's definitely happening. So, just very excited to kind of work on it, and it's going to be amazing. I really can't say anything beyond that.
There is no planned release window for Shang-Chi 2 and the movie is not on Marvel's Phase 6 release schedule.
What do you think? Would you like to see a Shang-Chi sequel in the next two years?
