Look Back is a one-shot by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, and it's getting its own film adaptation.
Chainsaw Man was one of the biggest hits in 2022 with an insanely popular anime by MAPPA – and is set to receive a season 2. But the creator of Chainsaw Man, Tatsuki Fujimoto, also has other manga and one-shots that are incredible.
One of those was the popular one-shot "Look Back" which was published in 2021 in Shōnen Jump+, a digital counterpart to the Shōnen Jump magazine. The upcoming Kaiju No.8 was a Shōnen Jump+ exclusive manga.
"Look Back" Anime Movie Has Main Cast Revealed
Look Back is getting an anime movie, which is going to release June 28, 2024, in Japan. An international release might happen at a later date, but has not been confirmed yet.
The story of Look Back is far less bloody than Chainsaw Man, but just as tragic. The manga revolves around Ayumu Fujino, an elementary schooler talented in drawing manga, who faces competition from Kyomoto, a reclusive genius. Their rivalry turns into a lifelong friendship and collaboration in manga creation. There is a twist though, but we won't spoil you.
