Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was announced right after the second season concluded. The Culling Game Arc is going to be one of the most insane anime events to keep an eye on, but when is it going to release, and what can you expect from it?
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was announced right after the second season's 2023 run concluded. The second season was a huge step up from the first, in terms of action and drama, so fans have quite a lot to look forward to, especially with how the Shibuya incident ended.
The third season will be all about the Culling Game Arc, and we're finally going to get some backstory to characters like Itadori Yuuji who continues to be a mystery even as the protagonist. But when will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 release, and what can you expect? Well, you either wait for it to release, or you can just read ahead yourself by picking up the official manga by Gege Akutami .
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Potential Release Window For The Culling Game Arc
The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen was released in fall 2020. Then in Winter 2021 a movie came out. The second JJK season kicked off in Summer 2023 and ended in Winter 2023. So, going over the timeline, Mappa will likely need a year and a half or more to animate and find the right pacing for the next anime arc.
The Culling Game spans a total of 63 chapters in the manga, which is even more than the Shibuya arc was, so we can expect this season to be quite long once more, with two different parts to it most likely. So, going by this information, and the fact that Mappa is also currently working on the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc movie, we therefore don't expect JJK Season 3 to be released until late 2025.
Mappa is known for pushing their animators to work harder and quicker than many other studios, but with such big projects in the pipeline and with how expansive the Culling Game Arc is, it'll still take quite some time to get everything sorted. So don't expect the third season before midway through 2025 or even 2026 at the latest.

Please Note: There are spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga and Anime in this section.
In the final episode of season 2 we saw the return of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie hero, Yuta Okkotsu, who had been off on some super-secret mission for Gojo Satoru throughout the first two seasons.
In a notice from Jujutsu Headquarters, we find out that Yuta has been appointed as Yuji Itadori's executioner, a role the second-year student takes on willingly. This is the start of the Itadori's Extermination Arc in the manga, which is where the next season should kick off.
There will be some build-up to the Culling Game Arc, similar to how there was in season 2. First, we will follow Yuta as he tries to kill Yuji... or well, pretend to kill him. Yuta has to kill Yuji due to a binding vow, which he does, but thanks to him being able to use reverse-cursed technique he's able to save Yuji as well, which is how the next arc kicks off.
Once this part of the story is over, we move onto the Culling Game, which begins following a series of events orchestrated by the antagonist Kenjaku. The game is initiated through the merging of Tengen, an immortal being, with a barrier technique, causing thousands of people across Japan to be involved in this unwillingly.
So, we believe that the next season, much like Season 2 will be split into two parts, with the first following the execution of Yuji, as well as the preparation of the Culling Game, while the main meat of Season 3 should revolve around the game itself.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Cast & Characters
This season of Jujutsu Kaisen will have the same main cast as in previous seasons, with the exception of Gojo Satoru, who is currently sealed away and therefore won't be part of this arc at all. A bunch of other characters like Nobara or Nanami will also not make their return due to obvious reasons.
- Enoki Junya as Itadori Yuji
- Uchida Yuuma as Fushiguro Megumi
- Ogata Megumi as Okkotsu Yuta
- Mikako Komatsu as Zenin Maki
- Seki Tomokazu as Panda
- Namikawa Daisuke as Chousou
- Hidaka Noriko as Tsumuko Yuki
Along with these known characters, we're also going to be introduced to a lot of new ones as well, like the third-year Jujutsu High duo Kirara Hoshi and Kinji Hakari. Hajime Kashimo, Hiromi Higuruma and Angel are three more characters pivotal to the Cullen Game Arc which should be introduced.
