Red Dead Redemption is undoubtedly one of the best games ever made and still has a huge fan base. Now, new evidence suggests that a PC port of the iconic 2010 western may finally be on the horizon.

Update, August 13: PC Port Revealed By PlayStation

The RDR PC port has now been seemingly confirmed by an update to the description of the game on the PlayStation Store. The text was briefly updated to read:

Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever. Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.

This description was clearly intended for another storefront on PC, and we assume this was just an innocent mistake from one of Rockstar's employees. But however this mishap came to be, we're thrilled!

The Original Leak

Noted GTA data miner Tez2 first revealed news about an RDR PC port a few months ago, when he shared code from Rockstar's launcher site, and it was pretty straightforward. Among the code was some text that read, "Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, now playable on PC."

Which effectively confirmed that 14 years after its release, Rockstar is finally releasing a PC version of Red Dead Redemption and the zombie DLC Undead Nightmare.

Red Dead Redemption received ports for PS4 and Nintendo Switch last year, which were well-received, although some fans were disappointed by the lack of graphical improvements. Even the PS4 version remained locked at 30fps initially, though a 60fps option was later introduced for PS5 players. Additionally, some were put off by the $50 price tag.

Rockstar has historically been hesitant about PC releases. Both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were released on PC a year after their console counterparts. Even the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, slated for console release next year, is expected to bypass PC upon launch. Though, we can surely expect a PC port to follow.
