Vikings: Valhalla is gearing up for its final season 3 and we've got all the info for you, including the expected release date, the new and returning cast and any other news you could possibly need.
Vikings had a good run, just like the spinoff Vikings: Valhalla had, but all good things must come to an end. The upcoming third season will be the last and we'll have to say goodbye to Leif, Freydís and Harald. It's bittersweet to know the show will end, but better end on a high note than watch ratings go down, right? (Looking at you, Witcher... Sad.)
We've got all the info for you to prepare for Vikings' last hurrah, so let's dive right in!
Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 | Expected Release Date
While we're still waiting for an official release date for Valhalla Season 3, we at least have a release window to share – a rather broad one, sure, but it's better than nothing.
For the last time, Vikings: Valhalla is coming out in 2024 with the final season 3.

Following the tradition, there's a new season each year. The second season released in January 2023, not even a full year after the debut. The showrunners are taking their sweet time with their final journey for Leif and the others, it seems – might be for the best.
In the past, fans got their annual Vikings-fix early in the year, something the final season didn't seem too concerned with. We're expecting a summer release for Valhalla Season 3 this year – why not shake things up a bit, right?
Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 Sees The Cast For The Last Time
For the last time, the cast of Vikings Valhalla shows what "ruggedly handsome" really means. Of course, beloved characters return as we know them, including:
- Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson
- Frida Gustavsson as Freydís Eiríksdóttir
- Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson
Chances are the trio will finally reunite – thank the Gods! Even though it's the last season, there are some new faces joining the cast as well to get excited for, including Florian Munteanu as Maniakes, a Byzantine general who doesn't even know what the word "fear" means. We'll also meet Erik the Red, Leif and Feydírs father, played by Goran Višnjić.
Of course, the cast is rather big – there haven't been any recastings reported, so rest assured the faces (and beards) we've grown to love will make a return. As long as they made it this far, of course!
What Are The Chances For Valhalla Season 4?
While Vikings creator Jeb Stuart has stated in the past that new ideas wouldn't be the problem, the show's concept was always made for three seasons with 24 episodes total. While fans wouldn't mind more, it's probably a good call to end the show on a high note – no cliffhangers, but an ending that ties up all the threads.
Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense story-wise for our Leif, Freydis and Harald’s voyages to end with our third season. And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history.
And Stuart is right – great shows have been ruined in the past by going on and on and on until even the most diehard fans have been disappointed by lackluster plots for the sake of profit.
For the time being, there's nothing left to do but wait for the last season. We'll make sure to keep you updated!
