With the release of the new Alien: Romulus, one of the most iconic horror characters makes his return to the big screen. This gave us the reason to rank all the Alien movies from worst to best, including the Alien vs. Predator movies.

It's a shame to see two of our favorite horror icons in a movie that doesn't live up to expectations. After Aliens vs. Predator was given a PG-13 rating, this movie was back to an R-rating, which led us to believe that we'd see some good old alien horror. However, there was nothing to see. Maybe it's because the movie is so dark that we can't see what's going on, or maybe it's because the characters and the story are just so boring that we lose interest. | © 20th Century Fox
The PG-13 rating has already got some fans worried that the clash of these icons won't be as epic as they imagined. The answer is: no, it won't. If you're looking for an action film, then this might be good, but horror fans will lose interest in this movie. | © 20th Century Fox
Alien Resurrection is, by far, the worst of the first four movies. It's just trying too hard to be funny and edgy. The scene with the aliens swimming through the water or the panic shooting at a little spider is just not what we want from an alien movie. | © 20th Century Fox
This is probably one of the most discussed movies in the franchise. The universe and the settings are looking gorgeous, but the crew is just awful. It seems like the movie has the most unprepared crew in the whole franchise. How could they have gotten such a good degree but be failing at every small task? | © 20th Century Fox
Like Covenant, this setting is mysterious and beautiful. What makes this movie even better is that the crew seems smart. But there is a major problem with Prometheus and Covenant: the alien. It feels like they put the alien in it just for the hell of it (and for the name). Most of the time, the story is about David, the android (Michael Fassbender), who is an interesting character, but not an alien. Sorry, David. | © 20th Century Fox
David Fincher brought his own style to this movie, and it mostly works. In fact, this movie could have been a great finale for Ripley. Seeing it again makes you wonder why they made the fourth one (spoiler: money). | © 20th Century Fox
The movie that first introduced us to the franchise is rightly considered a masterpiece. Some people may find the pace slow, but it works for a horror that plays out like a thriller. We get lulled into a sense of peace on the spaceship, and so when the alien arrives and starts killing, it grabs our attention and doesn't let go! | © 20th Century Fox
Making a sequel is probably the most challenging thing for Hollywood these days, but back in the 80s, James Cameron did a brilliant job bringing back Ripley. It might have too much action for some fans, but what this movie also gave us was more aliens, and more story about the aliens without demystifying our beloved horror creature. | © 20th Century Fox
