The new season of Ted Lasso is reportedly in the works, but a key member of the cast may be absent.
The American football expert turned soccer coach stole all our hearts with his extreme optimism. Ted Lasso is a unique series that manages to pull your heartstrings with wholesome moments that don't have to be sad.
Although, the sad bits will get you as well.
After the season three finale, the show's continuation felt like an open question, but now a fourth season seems certain. However, a key member of the cast may not be there.
Ted Lasso Season 4 Confirmed?
Deadline are claiming that the fourth season is in development. This isn't an official confirmation, but we're fairly confident it's correct.
However, the creators have apparently said that they still in the casting phase, with only three original cast members definitely returning to their respective characters, namely Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, who play Rebecca Walton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins.
We're still waiting for Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) to be confirmed. These three all have expiring SAG-AFTRA contracts, so they will have to make new deals for the show to happen. However, we think they will return.
The piece that might be gone for good is Phil Dunster, who played the rising soccer star Jamie Tart. Dunster still has contracts for Prime Video's The Devil's Hour and Apple's Surface, so it is not certain whether he will be part of the production.
The show's creators have stated that they will hopefully be able to start filming by 2025.
We couldn't be happier!
