In a surprising turn of events, the iconic Dominic Purcell confirmed in a post on Instagram that season 6 of Prison Break is coming. As Lincoln Burrows, he knows best about conspiracies, so we're inclined to think he's got it right again.
It's a good day for Prison Break fans. It's been an emotional rollercoaster hoping for season 6 of Prison Break, with hopes rising and then being crushed time and time again. Surprisingly, six years after the "final" season, there is some more news from none other than Dominic Purcell himself.
In the show, he played the main protagonist, Michael Scofield's wrongly convicted brother Lincoln Burrows. His imprisonment starts off the whole show as Michael lets himself be convicted too, just to get his brother out – what follows are five seasons worth of action, suspense and intricate plans (my brother could never).
Dominic Purcell Confirms Prison Break Season 6
First reported by Deadline, Prison Break season 6 is already in the works and in the early development stages at Hulu. But, as a possible sequel has been rumored quite often and nothing ever came of it, some fans were skeptical.
Now, Dominic Purcell himself took to Instagram to confirm the news:
While the announcement made fans ecstatic, it still is bittersweet as the caption reads:"A new iteration of 'Prison Break' without myself nor Wentworth is in the early stages of production. I wish them well. That chapter has closed. A new chapter beckons, a new and real possibility brewing. Yours sincerely, signing out. Dom and Linc."
Speaking of a new chapter – while it won't be on Prison Break's set, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be reunited anyway in a brand-new show.
Considering the past rollercoaster-esque experience with possible sequels, it is kind of fitting that the confirmation of season 6 goes along with the knowledge that it's going to be without Michael and Lincoln – speak of highest of highs, lowest of lows and all that. It's always a bummer to say goodbye to beloved characters. Still, their stories are told, they got their conclusion, maybe it really is time to let the brothers rest.
Prison Break Season 6: How And When Does It Continue?
Instead of continuing a highly stressful and dangerous lifestyle for the brothers and their companions, season 6 is going to be featuring a cast of new characters. To make sure it's still going to be a worthy new season, they got Elgin James, co-creator of Mayans M.C. as the writer and executive producer.
Still, the new season will be set in the world we've missed dearly since the show's last season in 2017. Without the old gang, though, it's safe to say the new installment will open up a whole new story that's just waiting to be enjoyed.
When that's going to happen is anyone's guess at this point, though. As season 6 is still in early development, it could take years for the script to be finished and to even start filming. For that reason, there's also no announced cast to report – except for those who won't be joining, of course. Bye Michael, bye Lincoln.
