A show tournament with the best players in the world just proved which lane is strongest in League of Legends. Spoiler: it wasn't Support.
Before the seriousness of the LCK Spring Split starts, players and Riot decided to have some fun, putting on a show match for the fans. This show tournament, would be played on the brand-new Summoner's Rift map, giving fans a taste of what is to come in 2024.
Five teams were competing for the title of best role in the game, each team comprising of LCK pro players, all of the same role in the game. But, which role was on top at the end?
LoL: LCK Show Tournament Crowns Best Role In Game
There are always discussions on which roles are the best in the game and which players are the best. Going into the LCK Show Tournament, there were also quite a lot of opinions on which team would win it all, with most fans and casters putting their money on the mid laners.
Even before the tournament started there was a lot of smack talk between the teams, with the top lane team, led by T1's Zeus, stating that the jungler team was one they couldn't lose against since junglers mostly play against AI monsters.
In similar fashion, the ADC team, with team captain kt Deft, felt that the support team would be the weakest due to them not having to farm or CS while in game.
The match order was decided by T1 Zeus, who ended up winning the pre-tournament mini-games, giving himself and his team the opportunity for the best seeding possible.
He decided the first game would be between Support and Jungle, while the second would be between ADC and Mid Lane, leaving the top laners to play the winners of the jungle/support match up in the third match of the day.
In the end, there was one victorious team that bested not one, not two, but three teams in their short run to the top at the LCK Show Tournament and that was none other than Team Jungle, who managed to show that "better jungle" does win games.
Everything was played in a best-of-1 format, which means you need a big brain and Team Jungle is a team of big brains, so it was pretty much an easy journey for us.
The players who competed at the tournament also got to vote for a tournament MVP, the honor went to rookie jungler Choi "Lucid" Yong-hyeok who played in the mid lane for team jungle. It was his first time ever at LoL Park and on stage, making it all the more memorable for the young player.
