Roblox fans are losing their marbles as one of the most iconic sounds in the game has been removed. What happened?
It's a sad, sad time for the ever-growing, insatiable game... excuse me, I meant platform of course, known as Roblox. Fans of the creative game making tool have been aghast at one of the newest changes. Roblox has lost one of its most iconic elements and it will never be the same again.
Roblox Loses Iconic Sound
The iconic 'oof' sound in Roblox has been removed from the game. If you know the game, you will know and love this sound. If you don't know it: the 'oof' was heard every time a character in the game dies. Here, have a listen for yourself.
The emphasis is on 'was', since you won't hear this sound in Roblox anymore. This was announced by the official Roblox Twitter account, where they explain that they had to go this radical route due to a "licensing issue".
Related to sounds, due to a licensing issue we have removed the “oof” sound from Roblox and have created a replacement default sound which launches today.
We don't know more about this catastrophic scandal, but we can speculate. The sound wasn't actually made by anyone at Roblox, but rather by famed video game composer Tommy Tallarico. In 2020, Roblox and Tallarico found an agreement so that the sound had to be sold for $1 (100 Robux) to be used. Clearly something happened to the agreement and Tallarico most likely pulled out, making the sound unavailable for use.
However, this is just speculation as nothing official has been said beyond the quoted tweet. What we can definitely confirm is, that the new sound is in the game already. And it sucks. RIP to a real one.
