CS2: All Maps

Counter-Strike 2 will present a multitude of maps, that either received fundamental changes, slight modifications or just a visual overhaul. Here is a list of all the maps for Counter Strike 2.

Counter-Strike has produced some of the most iconic maps in esports history. Throughout CS 1.6, Source and CS:GO, some of the most well known maps have formed and developed into the shapes we all know and love today. Let's take a look at all the confirmed maps for Counter-Strike 2 and in which game modes you can play them.

All Counter-Strike 2 Maps

With Counter-Strike 2 running on a new game engine, the maps will look different. All of them have received visual overhauls. The game looks much brighter and the agents are far easier to distinct from the map itself. Some maps have received slight updates, whilst others got a complete revamp. Let's start with the map in the active duty pool.

Dust II

CS2 Dust2
Dust 2 is the most famous map in esports | ©Valve

We all know Dust 2. This map has produced some of the most insane moments in Counter-Strike history. S1mple throwing his AWP over the wall at B-Site to win a 1v1, Hiko's “inhuman reactions”, Kqly's VAC shot on Pasha. No map will ever reach the status of Dust 2. It is Counter-Strike's holy grail. One that you can't remove.

But the map has seen some small changes. Valve has moved one house at T-spawn lower, preventing the sniper duels from T-spawn through mid. Besides that, the map is much brighter and cleaner looking. Well done Valve. To all of you out there: I hope you know the difference between lower and Catas.

You can play Dust 2 in the following game modes:

Mirage

CS2 Mirage
Love it or hate it: Mirage is here to stay | ©Valve

Mirage, the map where smokes learned to fly higher and further than anywhere before. The map which saw Team Liquid get clapped by Coldzera's jumping AWP (and that one kill from Taco, we won't forget), the map where cadiaN, equipped with just a pistol, won a 1v4 to win ESL Pro League for Heroic. He started with a knife kill, btw, man behave. And the map where ChrisJ shocked the world with an insane AWP ace.

As on Dust 2, there were mostly visual changes for Mirage, but the smoke changes will change the meta on the map. And lads, there is no more contemplating about not doing a window smoke, there is no more Jump Throw bind needed.

Mirage can be played in the following game modes:

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch

Train

CS2 Train
Train is back, for better or for worse | ©Valve

For our next map, we travel to Russia to enjoy some gunfire on train tracks. De_Train makes a return to the CS2 map pool, after being swapped out for Ancient. We remember some iconic plays. Rain winning a 1v4 on the edge of elimination with 1HP remaining against Virtus Pro, ChrisJ performing a 1v5 against S1mple's NaVi and Flusha's ACE against FaZe.

For Train, the same thing goes as for the previous maps. Mostly visual overhauls. I like seeing train back, but especially with Premier Matchmaking, please learn those callouts.

You can visit the tracks of Train in:

  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch
  • Wingman (only A-Site)

Nuke

CS2 Nuke
The first map that Valve made "upgrades" on: Nuke | ©Valve

Oh Nuke, oh Nuke. Beloved by some, wholeheartedly hated by others. With one bombside below the other, Nuke is a unique map in the world of Counter-Strike. The bigger smokes will change the way the outside area is played. This map has seen amazing plays, Valde's 1v5 without taking a single HP of damage, or F0rest's 1v4 against Astralis. It has also seen some major chokes. G2 forgetting where the bomb was planted, G2 forgetting that Xyp3x had time for a defuse or G2's Niko missing a freebie Deagle shot to win the Map and equalize the match in the major finals against NaVi.

This is the first map that Valve has made “upgrades” on. No texture looks like the one of CS:GO. It is bright and shiny and reflective. The map looks incredibly clean, possibly too clean.

Explore Nuke in the following game modes:

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch
  • Wingman (only B-Site/lower-Site)

Ancient

Cs2 Ancient

Ancient, one of a handful of maps Valve made themselves, finds its way to Counter-Strike 2. The map joined the game with the operation Broken Fang in December 2020 and found its way in the active map pool in the following year, replacing Train. This map has seen a fair share of great plays. Refrezh clapping Virtus Pro with 3 Deagle shots or Mezii's 1v5 for Endpoint come to mind.

This map has received some visual overhauls but no real map changes. So use your CS:GO knowledge to win on Ancient.

Dominate Ancient in:

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch

Overpass

Cs2overpass
Let's go to Berlin, this is Overpass | ©Valve

Overpass takes you on a trip to Berlin, and it is more detailed than ever. The map has its own legendary graffiti, from when Olofmeister defused the bomb while standing inside a Molotov against Cloud9. Guardian's AWP 1v5 against Fnatic is as iconic as the Olofboost.

Talking about boosts, the new Overpass for Counter-Strike 2 will feature less of them. But the map is looking amazing. More details, fresh surfaces and water pits where chicken will now swim through.

Check out Berlin City in:

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch
  • Wingman (only B-Site)

Inferno

CS2inferno
Next up: Italian Majesty. Inferno will stay | ©Valve

Let's be honest, Counter-Strike without Inferno feels wrong. The map where epic battles found an end, where Cloud9 won the first and only Major win for a North American team, where Dosia became a legend and a young kennyS flicked his opponents into another dimension.

Inferno has received a multitude of map changes, Valve isn't trolling around for this map. All in all, it feels more narrow and less open. The visuals are great again, and the changes look promising for allowing great games in Silver and in Majors.

You can explore the new designs of Inferno in:

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch
  • Wingman (only A-Site)

Vertigo

CS2 Vertigo
Here to stay, not to (Verti-)go | ©Valve

Oh yes, Vertigo. Shoutout to OhnePixel and DonHaci, our Vertigo warriors. The place where a run boost gains an advantage or sends you into the shadow realm. The map, where pro players will try to plant on A-site 15 rounds in succession. CS:GO's-Icebox. Loved by some, disliked by most. But it remains with us for CS2.

Vertigo has received the same visual remasters as all the other maps. Besides that, not much really changed. Seems like Valve either thinks the map is perfect the way it is or they dislike it as much as I do.

You can torture yourself on Vertigo in:

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch

Anubis

CS2 Anubis
Anubis also received some new visuals for CS2 | ©Valve

And the last map for the active duty maps, Anubis. The map joined in 2021, replaced de_cache, and remained with us until today. Degster's 1v4 for OG has been the best play on Anubis in my humble opinion.

Once again, just visual upgrades from the CS:GO version. But the map looks really clean and inviting to play. Can't wait to hop on this map!

  • Premier
  • Matchmaking
  • Casual
  • Deathmatch

Office

CS2 Office
This map is hated by a lot, still it's here. Welcome to CS2, de_office | ©Valve

Yes, Office will return for Counter-Strike 2, having some fresh looks and minor map changes. I would love to tell you about the best plays on this map, but I think the 1v4 I did on a LAN party in 2019 must've been the best play this map has seen (I am a Master Guardian).

If you decide to play it, you can do it in:

  • Matchmaking
  • Casual

Italy

CS2 Italy
Ready to free some hostages in Bella Italia? | ©Valve

Italy is back and has received some major updates by Valve. Not only does the map look gorgeous, but has received some bigger changes throughout the map. It seems like Valve wants to have a strong hostage map with Italy.

Italy can only be played in Casual right now.

All in all, lots of visual improvements that make the game look phenomenal. Finally, Counter-Strike gets the graphic update it needed for so long. Now, we only require good servers and Valorant has no right to compare itself to Valve's shooter. I really like the changes Valve has done to the maps for CS2. Everything looks so clean and fresh. Well done Valve. I wish you all a great headshot rate and no cheaters in your games, enjoy shooting!
