Battlefield continues to crumble. The planned Mobile game, which has been in development for three years, has now been cancelled.
Battlefield 2042 had a very poor launch, but bit by bit they've continued working to improve the game. In fact, they recently confirmed that the traditional class system would be returning soon, which led us to believe there was still hope for the franchise.
A lot of hopes were also resting on the Mobile game to restore some pride and dignity to Battlefield. Sadly, those hopes have now been extinguished.
Battlefield Mobile Has Been Cancelled
As now officially confirmed by the devs, Battlefield Mobile has been cancelled. This sad news comes on the same day as the announcement that Apex Legends Mobile will also be shutting down soon. Although, unlike Apex Legends Mobile, Battlefield Mobile didn't even get the opportunity to prove itself with a full release.
They haven't explained why the game was cancelled, but they did at least leave us with this:
We remain highly committed to unlocking Battlefield’s enormous potential. We’re hard at work at evolving Battlefield 2042, and are in pre-production on our future Battlefield experiences at our studios across the globe.
EA's pivot away from mobile has left a lot of spectators doubting the success of Activision's upcoming Warzone Mobile. But when you consider the success of CoD: Mobile, one would assume Warzone Mobile will be a safer bet.
