Electronic Arts has dropped a bunch of new info regarding Battlefield, including a new main studio and a new game involving one of the makers of Halo.
Battlefield had a tough time recently. The absolute disaster that was Battlefield 2042 did a lot of damage to the legendary franchise. But Electronic Arts hasn't given up on it just yet and wants to bring the series back on track. This has become clear after the latest press release by EA, detailing the future of Battlefield. In this announcement, there weren't just a bunch of flowery words; they also announced a new Battlefield game. And some of them involve some prestigious names.
New Battlefield Game By Halo Creator Announced
In EA's press release, it was revealed that Vince Zempella of Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment fame will head the future of Battlefield. One of his first moves will be to see through the development of new games made by Ridgeline Games, a brand-new studio which will develop the next games in the series. This studio also involves Marcus Lehto, who is one of the co-creators of Halo and they're set to make "a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe".
With their ambition, passion, and years of experience across many of the best titles in the games industry, Marcus and team are excited to tell stories and take players on incredible adventures that are only possible within the Battlefield universe.“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with DICE and Ripple Effect and lead the charge on expanding the narrative, storytelling and character development opportunities in the Battlefield series,” said Lehto, Game Director and head of Ridgeline Games.
No more details have been revealed on this upcoming Battlefield game. It's interesting that their response to a completely botched version of their classic multiplayer formula is to... go back to making campagins? We'll see how that turns out. And don't worry: EA is obviously still going to make multiplayer Battlefield games. Let's hope they're better than the last effort though...
