Baldur's Gate 3 tricked us at first into thinking that Arabella is the only troublemaker in her family, but we were wrong. Arabella is just like her parents and unfortunately this lead to Arabella losing her parents. Don't worry, we'll show you how to find them!
Helping Arabella back in Baldur's Gate 3's Act 1 to avoid some... venomous circumstances lets you meet her again in Act 2. She needs your help again, since she thinks her parents have gotten themselves into trouble (wonder if that's a family trait). Don't worry, Arabella, we'll help you find your parents!
But wait, where is Arabella?
How To Find Arabella
Once you enter Act 2, you'll find yourself in the Shadow Cursed Lands. If you want to find Arabella, you'll have to travel to the west of these Lands.
But remember to grab a Moon Lantern or the Pixie's Blessing before you start your travels to protect yourself from the curse.
You can find Arabella at the gates to the southern entrance of the graveyard, which is located to the east of the House of Healing. If you don't know where the House of Healing is yet, it's west of the Mason's Guild.
Starting a conversation with her will reveal that she is looking for her parents. If you've helped Arabella in the past at the Druid's Grove, she will allow you and your party to help her this time round, too. You can either tell her to wait for you at your camp or at Last Light Inn, but she will refuse the latter and only accepts if you ask her to go to your camp.
Once she leaves for your camp, the quest to find Arabella's parents begins.
How To Find Arabella's Parents
As luck will have it, Arabella's parents aren't far away from your current position.
If you go west, to the House of Healing, you can find Arabella's parents in the east wing of the building. The good news is, you'll find Locke and Komira (those are her parent's names) lying on two hospital beds, being attended to by one of the Sisters, Lidwin. The bad news is, they're both dead. Yeah... there's nothing we can change about that.
You can choose to talk to Sister Lidwin (don't worry, she won't attack you) to find out more about Locke and Komira, or you can attempt to deceive Lidwin into selling your party healing supplies.
She sells Purple Worm Poison, of the strongest poisons in the game, so even though you can technically choose to kill Lidwin, I wouldn't recommend it, since you can always come back to her to buy more poison.
After you're done talking to Sister Lidwin, you can choose to leave the House of Healing, or you can stay and explore the rest of the house, which might even give you a little head start for a different side quest.
Optional Little Side Quest
Following the bad news you've just found out, you might need to take a moment for yourself in order to prepare what you're going to say to Arabella. If you want, you can choose to explore more of the House of Healing than you've done so far.
After leaving the east wing of the house, go to the main hallway and look for the operating theater in the back of the building.
In the middle of the room, you'll find Malus Thorm and a few Sisters attending his "lecture" on an operation he is currently showing. Be careful not to get too close to Malus right now, because if you do, a dialogue will automatically being that you cannot back out of without a fight.
Now, the goal here is to kill Malus, in order to get an item off of him that you'll need for the "wake up Art Cullagh" quest. To kill him, you don't necessarily need to fight him, though.
Should you choose to fight him, I'll give you are fair warning here: Malus Thorm has 276 hit points and will start multiattacking once his HP reaches 110. If you start a fight with Malus, all four Sisters around him will also begin attacking you and your party.
Now, if you decide against fighting Malus, you can make things easier on yourself by not going up to him immediately to start talking to him. Instead, take a big step around Malus and the Sisters and head to the north of the operating theater. In the back, you'll find a small, locked room. You can either pick the lock, or destroy the door with brute force.
Once opened, head into the room and look for a book titled "Surgery and Physiology: A Sharran's Primer" and read it. This will give you an advantage to avoid having to fight Malus.
As soon as you've finished that, head back to the theater, and start your conversation with Malus. You'll have to convince him, first not to dissect you and your party right then and there. Do not flat out refuse to be dissected. If you do that, Malus will become mad and will immediately start a fight with you.
After you've accomplished that, you can either convince Malus to either operate on the Sisters, or even on himself. If you convince him to operate on himself, you won't have to fight against him. Now, this is where the book comes in handy. Trying to convince Malus to operate on himself will now have a lowered DC, since you read the book. If you succeed with all your rolls, Malus will kill himself (dark, I know) and you can grab the Battered Lute off of Malus' body.
The Battered Lute will come in handy for the "wake up Art Cullagh" quest. Thank me later.
How To Deliver The Bad News...
Right, now, where were we? Oh yeah, Arabella's dead parents, right. Awkward.
Arabella will be waiting for you at your camp, so once you're done in the House of Healing, head over there to talk to her. You'll have to be the bearer of the bad news, and Arabella won't take it so well at first. She's quite shocked, so a good night's rest will definitely help her.
Take a long rest and look for Arabella in the morning. She'll be talking to a different NPC, and you'll find out that she's slowly coming to terms with the news. As a thanks for fulfilling her quest, she'll give you the Shadow Blade and an uncommon ring.
And with that, you've completed the quest to find Arabella's parents!
