Ubisoft clearly wanted Assassin's Creed Mirage to be informative and historically accurate. But with the "History of Baghdad" feature, they've gone above and beyond.
With Assassin's Creed Mirage we're getting an AC game that pays even closer attention to historical detail than usual.
And this time they've also introduced a dedicated feature for those interested in the historical context of the game. It's called "History of Baghdad" and we think it's fantastic.
Here is what the "History of Baghdad" feature contains!
Assassin's Creed Mirage: The "History of Baghdad" Feature
During an interview about the "History of Bagdad", Mikel Reparaz first told us about the feature:
Part of an in-game Codex that also includes tutorials and a Database with lore, History of Baghdad will deliver expertly curated information on the history, art, and culture of Baghdad and the Abbasid Caliphate circa the ninth century, accompanied by images provided by museum partners.
In total, Mirage will present 66 historical sites in Baghdad, providing information on all manner of topics:
- Economy
- Belief
- Daily Life
- Government
- Art
- Science
- Court Life.
This feature offers everyone the possibility to learn a lot about the city, the people living there and the era as a whole.
Ubisoft also partnered with a number of experts and organizations for its research, to deliver the most accurate historical exploration possible for a game like Assassin's Creed Mirage.
Those are some of the institutions who contributed their part to the game:
- The David Collection – A museum in Copenhagen focused on Islamic art
- The Institute du Monde Arabe (IMA) – A museum forming a bridge between France, the Arab world, and the rest of the world
- The Khalili Collections – A curated fine art collection created by Professor Sir Nasser D. Khalili
- The Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design – A museum established to enrich public understanding of Islamic art and cultures
Beside those, there were also many other cultural advisors.
As Thierry Noël, Head of Ubisoft’s Humanities & Inspiration Department said:
Assassin’s Creed always strives to be a gateway for players to discover more about the fascinating historical setting and eras it explores.
And that's never been more true than in Mirage.
Guys, it's about time we get back to our history lessons!
