Invincible Season 2 Plot: What Can We Expect To Happen?

At the end of season 1 we were left with Mark being beaten to a bloody pulp. And don't forget, Cecil asked him to be the next defender of Earth, so that will probably be a big chunk of the plot.

There are more than enough enemies Mark will have to face in the future, which the producers kindly reminded us of, in the last episode.

In an Interview with The AV Club Kirkman himself said that the final episode of the first season is a good place to look for plot elements of season 2.

Even the small details will come into play in a big way in the future. I wanted to work in way more of those pops but it was becoming ridiculous.

That's great to hear, but I'm curious how they are gonna do that.

Obviously, the fact that Omni-Man beat up Mark so badly will have a lasting impact on his development. Duh. But I am curious what "small" details will turn out to be relevant.

The thing I'm looking forward to the most, though, is the addition of new characters to the roster of already established ones. Kirkman already teased a major foe for Mark in the coming seasons with Angstrom Levy and just recently we got our first look at how his character will look in the show.

Levy is a genius super villain, who has the power to open dimensional portals to other realities. So we might get some multiverse shenanigans?

All in all we have more than enough villains to keep things interesting, with the ones left from season one and the possible addition of Angstrom Levy.

Omni-Man's return will be especially exciting, as now he has turned into an extremely complex antagonist, torn between his loyalty to the Viltrumite Empire and his love for his family.

The Origins Of Invincible

If you're not a big comicbook kinda guy, you probably didn't know that Invincible is actually based on the Skybound/Image Comics series of the same name , that was created by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley.

Just like the show, the Invincible comics tell the coming of age story of Mark Grayson who discovers his superpowers as the son of the powerful superhero Omni-Man.

While there are some major differences between the comics and the series, as for example the show had to speed up the timeline a little to fit the format, while also adding a little context to provide understanding of characters.

Still, the series stays fairly true to the comics, only adding minor changes that don't really impact the larger narrative. So if you're a big fan if the show, you will definitely enjoy the comics too!
