The end of Rebirth?
Rebirth Island has been a big part of Call of Duty's battle royal offerings, in Blackout as well as Warzone. In Warzone, Rebirth Island was introduced in December 2020 and since then it has remained basically unchanged. Nowadays, the majority of CoD players actually prefer Rebirth to Caldera, but it seems like this is about to change.
A new Warzone map is making its way into the game with the launch of Season 4, and it's going to be the new, mid-size, resurgence map.
We just received an official overview of the new map:
The map is basically split into 4 sections: Town, Keep, Smuggler's Cove and Winery. To be honest, the map looks like a campers wet dream. As soon as the circle pulls towards Town, you just know, that there'll be a ton of rats just chillin' in one of those houses, with their claymores at hand. And who the hell is going to Land at Camp or Bay, those 2 POIs look really trashy. Does this map excite you?
How Big Is Fortune's Keep?
Bigger than expected... Here is an official comparison of Caldera, Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep:
We're loving the hype for the new #Warzone resurgence map - Fortune's Keep.Among all the discussions, we've seen one question that kept being asked, "How big is Fortune's Keep?"We think this illustrates it perfectly! pic.twitter.com/4lkpvGjSas

When the new Fortune's Keep map was unveiled, it looked pretty big and some players, such as JGOD, spent a lot of time measuring the map and comparing it to Rebirth Island. Fortunately, Raven Software themselves have since provided an official size comparison showing that Fortune's Keep is only slightly larger than Rebirth Island.
Will Rebirth Island Be Replaced By Fortune's Keep?
No. As we can see from the already released playlist updates for June and July, both maps will remain in the game. The maps will probably rotate in the playlist and of course with Season 4 the focus is on Fortune's Keep for now. However, Rebirth Island will be available regularly with its own playlists.
New Contracts & Events On Fortune's Keep?
On the new map, there will of course also be some new gameplay features to bring some variety into the usual Rebirth gameplay.
Black Market Supply Run
The Black Market Supply Run Contract is a mix of Supply Run and Supply Drop. This contract is intended for the mid- and late-game and drops a black and gold buy station on the map. Players must now find the station using a marker on the minimap. The team that has activated the contract can then exchange their cash for one of several items at this buy station. After that, all other squads can use the station for a few minutes before it disappears again.
The following items are available:
- Sequencer Grenade – $500
- gold-plated [[REDACTED]] weapons (SMG, AR, LMG, Sniper, Shotgun) – TBA
- Nebula V Minigun – TBA
- Foresight – TBA
- Specialist Bonus –TBA
Cash Extraction Event
This Public Event can occur multiple times per match. Once the event starts, a flashing golden circle with money bag icon appears on the minimap and a flare shoots into the sky to call for a helicopter, which then drops a black and gold bag. The bag is guarded by 5 NPC mercenaries that players can defeat to get the loot. Those who manage to do so get cash, ammo, armor and equipment, though the mercenaries are constantly getting reinforcements.
When Will Fortune's Keep Be Released?
Fortune's Keep will be released in Season 4 of Warzone, on June 22 at 10:00 PT (13:00 ET / 18:00 BST / 19:00 CEST). It's going to be a huge update, but don't worry, a pre-download should be available a few days before release.
That's basically all we know about Warzone's new map Fortune's Keep. Are you excited about a new map, or sad that Rebirth is leaving us? I know I will miss Rebirth and if this map sucks, our only hope will be Warzone 2, cos I ain't playing Caldera.
