A new update for the competitive ruleset of Modern Warfare 2's Ranked Play restricts Weapon Tuning and the Kastov 762.
With the launch of Season 2 on February 15 Modern Warfare 2 finally got Ranked Play and the community is loving it. One of the good things about the Ranked Play playlist is that it uses the competitive ruleset from the Call of Duty League. This means only select game modes, maps and weapons are allowed, and everything unbalanced is restricted. Even some attachments andpieces of equipment are banned, which makes Ranked Play a way more even playing field.
No stupid shotgun or flash spamming, no launchers, no LMG camping... Depending on the current meta, the ruleset will be updated from time to time and usually add more guns to the restricted list.
MW2 Ranked Play: No More Weapon Tuning & Kastov 762
With the latest Competitive Ruleset Update v1.4 Weapon Tuning and the Kastov 762 were added to the restricted list. The community has been asking for a ban of the weapon tuning feature since the launch of Ranked Play. Weapon tuning allows players to individually improve some stats of their attachments, which could lead to imbalance, so this change is greatly appreciated by the competitive community.
However, the ban of the Kastov 762 raised some eyebrows. The gun was never considered overpowered like the Kastov-74u or the ISO Hemlock. It was a solid AR, but never one of the most played guns in Ranked Play, so the ban comes a surprise.

The new Tempus Torrent MMR coming with Season 2 Reloaded will probably also go straight to the restricted list, since as of now all MMRs are banned in Ranked Play. If you want to check out the full list of restricted guns and equipment, you can do so on the official Call of Duty League site.
What do you think of the new restrictions? We are happy about the Weapon Tuning ban, since a feature like that shouldn't be part of a competitive environment, but the Kastov 762 ban is kinda weird. We are really curious why they banned that gun...
- By the way, you can try Modern Warfare 2 for free and then decide if you want to buy it .
Have you heard of CoD 2023 yet?
