Who Are The Best Assault Specialists In Battlefield 2042?
3. Emma "Sundance" Rosier
- Place of Birth: France
- Class: Assault
- Specialist: Smart Explosives
- Trait: Wingsuit
Emma "Sundance" Rosier was once part of a major Parisian crime syndicate before becoming a model soldier in the Armée de Terre. They're also non-binary, but that element of Sundance's character has only been vaguely referenced in the lore so far. Either way, this is a character with a colorful past. And in-game? Well, the wingsuit has to be one of the best things in BF2042; it's seriously good fun to use and it deploys from only a couple of meters above the ground.
The only reason Sundance is lower on this list is that the other assault Specialists are stronger when push-comes-to-shove, but all of the assault Specialists are strong so don't let this put you off. Sundance's grenades are a bit meh but you play them for the wingsuit, and it really is advantageous. It gives you unparalleled mobility and is particularly effective at getting around the flanks quickly.
2. Santiago "Dozer" Espinoza
- Place of Birth: Mexico
- Class: Assault
- Specialist: SOB-8 Ballistic Shield
- Trait: Blast Resistant
Dozer was an illegal Mexican immigrant who went on to serve the US armed forces, but before he could be granted citizenship he was deported...ouch. No wonder he's a no-pat now.
Dozer is a very strong Specialist, so much so that on day one his shield was removed from the game (not a good look DICE) so that it could be appropriately reworked. What sets him apart is that in an objective-based game like Battlefield, he's one of the very, very few Specialists whose equipment can actually help them PTFO. Passive blast resistance is also huge in a game that hands out rocket launchers and explosives so liberally.
1. Webster Mackay
- Place of Birth: Canada
- Class: Assault
- Specialist: Grappling Hook
- Trait: Nimble
Mackay sounds like a tool, but his heart is in the right place. He's a Canadian outdoorsman who followed his father into the military in his teens and served in the counter-terrorist unit the JTF.
Say what you want about poorly balanced Specialists (and we'd probably agree with you) but if you're looking for one of the best, look no further. Mackay's zip-line gadget is fun, and it's hugely beneficial in a game that requires you to cover so much distance, but more importantly, his passive is a flat buff to weapon handling. This is not good game design. But you wanted to know who the most competitive assault Specialist is and so here we are.
Seriously, a flat buff to moving while ADS? What were you thinking DICE?
