In this daily series, EarlyGame ranks all Valorant agents from worst to best. Today it's time for #4 - Phoenix.

Are you ready for a lame pun?

Alright, here goes…:

Somebody call 911, because this guy is on fire. I mean, I’m sorry, but Phoenix literally is. He’s so on fire that even the top of his hair has a fiery tinge to it. We’ve all been taught to not play with fire, but in this case we’re gonna make an exception.

Phoenix is a very offensive minded agent that has tons of outplay potential but is very beginner-friendly at the same time. Phoenix’ flash is called Curveball. In accordance with its name, it can be curved around corners, making it great for initiating. In fact, Phoenix’ whole kit is structured around him pushing the enemy: His ultimate Run it back, allows him to run on a spare life for a short period of time, after which he will return to the spot from which the ultimate was cast -- whether you die or not. In that sense, it’s easy to see where Phoenix gets his name from: He’s using fire and can rise from the ashes.

His ability Hothands is essentially a Molotov and forces enemies to either reveal themselves or be damaged, while Phoenix himself is healed by the flame. Lastly, his fire-wall ability, Blaze has a number of uses: It heals Phoenix, can be used as team utility, to block vision and choke points or to make sure nobody bothers Phoenix when he’s trying to attack an opponent 1 on 1 with his offensive abilities.

Valorant is not generally a beginner-friendly game, but we recommend Phoenix to new players, since his heal and ultimate make him quite forgiving to play. He’s also very gifted offensively, while, unlike Jett, still providing solid uitlity to his team.
