Psyonix have been busy, busy with an insanely small update that fixes a couple of insanely important things. Update 2.09 might be small, but its bug fixes are instrumental.
With Season 5 in full swing, Psyonix are busy working their little asses off getting Patches out to fix various issues in the game. Rocket League might have been out for literally six years, but the reality of online games, especially ones that run on such an old engine (Unreal Engine 3 in the case of Rocket League), is that they there will always be at least a few problems. In Update 2.09, Psyonix hasn't fixed much, but what it has fixed will make a big difference.
When an update is as minor and tiny as Patch 2.09 in Rocket League, it almost seems like more trouble than it's worth. With players still, years after launch, experiencing the Version Mismatch Error basically every time that the game gets patched, it's an absolute pain in the backside to get back in. Seeing as this issue has existed for what seems like millennia, you would think that Psyonix would introduce more than just three bug fixes when they introduce a new patch. Sadly, we are apparently mistaken.
What is in Rocket League's Update 2.09?
Update 2.09 introduces fixes to the Pause Menu navigation system, the play again button, and LAN matches. These specific changes might seem pretty minor, and perhaps not worthy of an entire update, but they are actually more important than they seem. The Pause menu navigation system is a particular cause for concern, as it is basically broken when you are on the post-match celebration screen.
Meanwhile, there are a good selection of issues that we have encountered with the Play Again button (like, for example, just simply not working at all). Our main problem, though, with the Patch Notes for Rocket League Update 2.09, is that they do not actually tell us which problems Psyonix have fixed. It seems like a bit of an oversight considering how important the Play Again button is. We would say the same with their note on LAN matches. Which bug, guys? Please be more specific!
