The Merc Hitbox is one of the most underutilized in Rocket League, and for good reason. What can we expect from the Merc Hitbox, what are its dimensions, and what cars feature this bad-boy?
There is something truly horrifying, in a way, about the Merc Hitbox. Home to only three Battle Cars, the Merc is a big and beefy boy that is generally avoided by all Rocket League fans who have any semblance of self-respect. The thing is, though, that you could make the case that the Merc actually receives more hate than it actually deserves. It might be a big and bulky babe (as we just established), but that also makes it the tallest car in the game, something that a skilled player could take advantage of.
It has become time for us to address the reality of a Merc Hitbox Guide as of late, with Rocket League Season 6's Nomad Battle Car featuring this rather surprising hitbox. The Nomad is only the third vehicle to feature the Merc Hitbox, and the first vehicle to be a more main-stream choice, considering that it will be available to any players who decide to invest in the Season 6 Rocket Pass. Now, we're going to break down the Merc Hitbox for you, but first we would like to let you know that we also have guides for a number of other Rocket League Hitboxes. Here they are:

- Rocket League: Dominus Hitbox Type Explained

What Battle Cars Feature The Merc Hitbox?
Only three of Rocket League's Battle Cars feature the Merc Hitbox, with Season 6's Nomad being the first to be a more mainstream vehicle choice. It will be interesting to see how popular it is, and whether the Nomad could kick-start the Merc's popularity. Here are those three Battle Cars:
- Merc (original)
- Battle Bus
- Nomad van
Merc Hitbox Details In Rocket League
The Merc Hitbox is the tallest in Rocket League, to make it an incredibly unique hitbox. It is big and bulky, with dimensions that would actually surprise you. Lacking in maneuverability, the Merc Hitbox is most useful for stealing the ball from your opponents using its obnoxiously large bonnet.
Merc Hitbox Dimensions
Category | Value (in Unreal Units / uu) |
Height | 61.11 |
Front Area | 3196 |
Length | 120.72 |
Width | 76.71 |
The thing about the Merc Hitbox is that it has its advantages. The Merc is clearly the best car body in the game for tight dribbles, with its height allowing it to push the ball in different directions more accurately and at faster speeds than any other vehicle. This is also a benefit of the Merc being very narrow in width. Wall touches and bounce dribbling is also significantly easier with the Merc. I would also note that its huge frontal surface area gives it a lot of power compared with other vehicles.
On the flip side, however, the Merc Hitbox struggles for this exact same reason. Its giant front basically ends up acting like a wall that pushes the ball along. You get barely any accuracy with the Merc for this reason, and it's hard to get the ball decently airborne from a ground-based position. That larger surface area also makes it much easier to be demoed by other players. In addition, your flicks are weaker, and your maneuvers are more difficult, and all of this has the additional discomfort of players also looking forking stupid when playing the Merc. All-in-all, this is a difficult Hitbox to recommend, but also not necessarily a total ride-off. It will certainly be interesting to see how the Nomad fares with a Merc Hitbox...
