Spaceballs, the cult classic comedy, could be making a return almost 40-years since the original first released.
Spaceballs is one of the most famous film parodies from the 80s, making fun of the popular Star Wars trilogy which released years before. Some of the biggest film stars of their time were a part of this satire, and it seems that the classic movie is going to be getting a sequel.
In a report by Jeff Snider, it was revealed that Amazon is currently working on a brand-new sequel to the iconic comedy. So, what do we know about the project so far?
Spaceballs Sequel Brings Back Iconic Actors
According to the report by Jeff Snider, Mel Brooks will be returning to Spaceballs as the producer, while Josh Gad, known for his voice as Olaf in Disney's Frozen, is going to be starring in the upcoming Spaceballs project. It seems that the project is already pretty far along, with writers for the script also already known.
Whether any of the original cast will return is yet to be decided, but we could definitely imagine some cameos from the 1987 cast in this new project as well, especially Bill Pullman, who played Lone Star in the original.
No release date has been revealed yet, but this project by Amazon and MGM studios could be released within the next few years. Hopefully it'll be as funny as the original.
