Recent news about DrDisrespect and the story about his Twitch ban back in 2020 have motivated more people to speak up about issues that went on in the past. This time, another Twitch employee has shared his experiences from behind the scenes.
After the recent scandal surrounding streamer and influencer DrDisrespect, who has been inappropriately texting a minor in Twitch's whisper chat function, more things are beginning to come to light. A tweet has emerged that adds a new, troubling layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding streamers, Twitch and its moderation practices.
Ex Twitch-Employee Reveals Secrets Behind The Scenes Of Twitch
The tweet in question comes from a former Twitch employee who claims to have worked in a department with access to vast amounts of data and information, including private messages and user interactions.
"I don’t think most people have an idea of how bad things were behind the scenes at Twitch."
The Dr. Disrespect situation.I don't think most people have an idea of how bad things were behind the scenes at Twitch. I literally worked in the department that had access to the most data and information. I saw private whispers etc. it was literally my job to investigate...

This tweet suggests that the issues at Twitch are far deeper than the public is aware of. According to the former employee, there were serious lapses in the platform's moderation and enforcement of community guidelines, particularly concerning the presence of pedophiles on the site.
"Twitch let pedophiles run free"
"Rellim" shared that he encountered many distressing things that Twitch allegedly failed to handle properly, but he wasn't allowed to talk about them.
He mentions that he had to sign NDAs, legal contracts that prevent employees from disclosing confidential information, on a daily basis. While they serve to protect company secrets, they can also hinder people who want to report unethical or illegal activities.
Rellim opened the conversation with his tweet, although the information he provided was quite vague and suggestive. He did say that he would love to share all of his experiences publicly, but he needs a different platform to do so because he's worried about the legal trouble he could get into for sharing confidential information. Nonetheless, he feels good that he is finally speaking out.
The allegations made in the tweet show that we need more transparency and accountability from Twitch. A platform that boasts millions of users, including a significant number of minors, must ensure a safe environment for its community.
