Every year, Rainbow Six Siege releases their plan detailing the content for the upcoming four seasons, and this year is no exception.
The Rainbow 6 Siege Roadmap is now live, and we have a lot of new content to look forward to this year. Let's get into the deets!
The Current State Of Rainbow 6 Siege, Year 9 Season 1
The current season of Rainbow 6 Siege is probably the one with the most changes in years. We have a major Shield-Rework, which made shields very valuable in the game, actually. Almost every Attacker (including Ash!) got their ACOG back, and they introduced us to a new great soloplay Operator; Deimos.
Deimos is the first Operator in Rainbow Six Siege, who appears to be a villain in the Siege lore. He has a solid primary, but the star of his loadout is cleary his signature revolver; It has a scope, deals a ton of damage and has no recoil. His pings enemies as long as they're scanned up to three times in a round. But only for him, so that's why we call him a soloplay Operator.
All Shield-Operators can now run like Blitz and do the Oryx-Dash. They can also reload their guns safely behind their shields, which makes playing with shields much easier from now on. We recommend everyone try it at least once.
Smaller changes of this season are among other things; new and upgraded attachments for weapons, a new inventory menu, a previsuzilation system for projectiles and new rappling animations for Attackers.
Rainbow 6 Siege Year 9 Season 2
In June 2024, we will see some long-awaited content with the launch of Season 2. Recruits get remastered, the Siege Marketplace should launch (currently in beta so register and check it out!) and finally some nerfs are coming for Fenrir and Solis.
Recruits have been in the game since release and boy were they fun to play. You had the good old 'Recruit Rush' with shotguns (or shields), and there was no random pick when you rushed to the toilet during a game. If you came back too late, you were forced to play as a recruit, and it had its charm.
Recruits are designed to teach new players the general game mechanics, but we older players still want the old recruit back, and please let him be playable in ranked again!
Another big change will nerf coming to Fenrir and Solis. They have been too OP for too long, hence Fenrir gets perma banned in ranked.
We don't know how exactly Ubisoft will nerf Fenrir, but we expect he will probably get less traps (currently five) and maybe the blindness time will be reduced reduced. Solis on the other hand will lose her SMG-11.
Finally, we may get the skin trade system that they've been working on. But, it may not be ready; we got to check out Siege Marketplace in early access and there are still some problems. The first thing is, in R6S you get renown for dupes, which will need to change otherwise we'll always be left thinking "damn, could've sold it in the marketplace". The second problem is that the skins are not sold in dollars/pounds/euros like in CS, but rather in their own currency, which will be much less appealing for those looking to spend big.
At least we won't be left praying for Black Ice with every Alpha Pack. In future, If we really want Black Ice for a certain weapon, we can just buy it with real money.
Rainbow 6 Siege Year 9 Season 3
We don't know a ton about the new Operator, besides the fact that they are from Greece and coming in Season 3. But we do also have a few other things to look forward to in Season 3.
We will also get a "Siege Cup", we have no idea how it works, but it sounds very exciting. We expect there will be a few cups a week that will follow a tournmament structure, and perhaps they will even be pay-to-enter, with a cash prize for the winners?
Ubisoft is also planning to rebalance Solis (again?) and Dokkaebi. Why they plan to rebalance Solis two times in a row isn't clear, but it will probably have something to do with some other content during the season. For Doki the nerf is much-needed, and it could come in many forms; Doki nerf less ringing time, less damage for the DMR or not being able to hack cameras anymore.
Other great changes are on the way as well, including an update to the After-Action screen to look more like the one from CSGO, which tells you what you did the most/least. We are also supposedly getting Shooting Range access during matchmaking, drone jump previsualization (no one asked for this tbh) and a new map training mode for drones, which is cool for new players.
Rainbow 6 Siege Year 9 Season 4
As for the new Operator expected in Season 4, all we know is that they will likely be American. We have no problem with American Operators, but Ubi? Why not represent a few more countries?
There are no plans for balancing, but they are keeping their options open, it will ultimately depedn upon community feedback.
We do know that the reputation system will officially be released, there will be an option for console players to cross play with PC players, and finally an AI will watch over the text chat for a safer environment.
That's all for now, thanks for reading and as always, we will keep you guys updated!
