Over a decade ago, the influential zombie survival game DayZ began its journey in Early Access. After five years, version 1.0 landed on Steam, followed by the release of its first expansion, Livonia, a year later. Now, a new add-on has been announced, promising to transport players to the most treacherous environment yet.

Sakhalin: The Most Unforgiving DayZ Setting Yet

The upcoming expansion will take us to the island of Sakhalin, situated in the far east of Russia and just a few kilometers south of Japan's Hokkaido. Spanning an impressive 83 square kilometers, players can expect to explore a vast area, roughly one-third the size of the main game's world.Although full details of Frostline are yet to be revealed, the teaser offers a glimpse into what awaits:

Frostline introduces Sakhalin as its most hazardous setting, featuring a chilling climate, perilous wildlife, and environmental threats like volcanoes. Survivors must navigate these dangers while contending with zombies and other adversaries. New animals, including reindeer, and gameplay mechanics like new diseases and revamped fishing, promise to enrich the survival experience.

As for its release, Steam indicates a fourth-quarter launch in 2024, with the developers hinting at an autumn arrival. Players can anticipate Frostline to hit their screens sometime in October or November.
