A leaked screenshot gives us an early, intriguing look at BioShock 4, featuring new weapons and possible gameplay mechanics.
Recently, some screenshots supposedly from BioShock 4 have been leaked. These aren’t official, but they come from what looks like a 2021 demo reel, tagged with the name "Parkside." If you’ve been following the news, you might recall that "Parkside" was a term tossed around back in 2019 by some industry insiders, hinting at a new BioShock game set in a fictional 1960s Antarctic city called Borealis.
Breaking Down The Image
The screenshot reveals a bit of the user interface, including a glimpse at a new weapon: the Ricochet Shotgun. It seems like the game might allow you to carry three types of weapons now, up from two in the last game, BioShock Infinite. This suggests a setup where you could have a primary weapon, a sidearm, and something heavier, maybe for those tougher enemies.
New Gameplay Twists?
The usual meters for Plasmids or Vigors aren’t visible in this leak. Instead, there are just icons, possibly indicating these abilities might work differently this time around, maybe on a recharge system like in many other modern games. Also, there’s a new meter with an hourglass symbol, which could hint at new mechanics, perhaps involving time control? Just imagine pausing or slowing down time during a fight.
The Iconic Lighthouse
One thing you can’t miss is what seems to be a lighthouse or at least something resembling one. It’s not very tall, or maybe that’s just how it looks from where the player stands in the game. But it does have a bright light on top that makes it look important, maybe a gateway to different places like in BioShock Infinite?
As more leaks and official news come out, it’ll be exciting to see how all these elements play out in the final game. For now, though, we can only piece together clues and guess at what BioShock 4 might bring.
