Throughout the last few days, a lot of new information pertaining to DrDisrespects Twitch termination has come to light. After the content creator revealed his side of the story, a former Twitch trust and safety employee shared some significant details with Rolling Stone.
Recently, a former Twitch employee, revealed the shocking reason why Herschel "Guy" Beahm, better known as Dr Disrespect, was banned from the platform in 2020. According to former Twitch employee Cody Conners, Dr Disrespect was in contact with a minor, using the platform's Whisper function to send inappropriate messages.
Dr Disrespect has since gone on indefinite hiatus, and even the gaming studio he helped found has cut ties with the streamer. Now he has given his side of the story in a tweet, claiming that "nothing illegal happened". But is this consistent with what another former Twitch employee has now revealed?
Dr Disrespects Reveals Admits To Twitch Whisper Messages With Minor
THE TWITCH BANHello, I'd like to make a quick statement..Lets cut the fucking bullshit, as you know there's no filter with me. I've always been up front and real with you guys on anything that I can be up front about, and I'm always willing to accept responsibility... which...

In a post on Twitter/X, Dr Disrespect has come clean and explained his side of the story. He's revealed that he hasn't been able to talk about his Twitch ban "for reasons outside of [his] control." Since the reason has been disclosed by former Twitch employees, Beahm is now able to reveal what happened.
Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes.
Beahm acknowledges that there were private messages sent to a minor in 2017. He also clarified that there were no real intentions behind these messages. Though, he did admit that they "sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate. " He also never met with the minor in question and stated that nothing illegal ever happened between them.
Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual.
The actions and messages led to a civil dispute between Twitch and Beahm, which resulted in a settlement. Beahm notes that there were never any criminal charges brought against him because of these messages.
Taking Accountability

Dr Disrespect, while admitting to messaging a minor, does state that he never had any predatory intentions. He does state that he is taking responsibility for his messages and that he should never have "entertained these conversations" to begin with, and that he is going to "own up to his shit."
I'm no predator or pedophile. Are you kidding me? Anyone that truely knows me knows where I stand on those things with those types of people. That's a different level of disgust that I hate even hearing about.
While he does take accountability for the messages, he is also saying that there were never any wrong intentions behind the Twitch whispers. He finished off his statement, saying that he will be taking a hiatus to be with his family before returning to content creation.
I'm not going anywhere. I’m not the same guy that made this mistake all those years ago. I'm taking an extended vacation with my family [...] [The haters] want me to disappear... yeah right.
(Update June 29) He Knew That They Were Underage
Another former Twitch employee has spoken up about the DrDisrespect story. This trust and safety employee who worked for the platform at the time confirmed to Rolling Stone that Beahm allegedly continued to send sexually graphic messages to a minor whom he knew to be underage.
This person also said that key elements of Beahm's latest defense tweet are inaccurate.
"I recall that Dr Disrespect was made aware by the individual that they were underage during the conversation, after which he indicated that this was no problem and continued on,"
At this point, there are many conflicting statements, and it's difficult to figure out exactly who to believe. But it seems like more and more Twitch employees or people involved in the matter are sharing the same experiences that speak against what Guy Beahm shared on X.
