There are many great boss fights in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and Leofrith is certainly one of them! King Burgred’s left-hand man is a tough warrior who’s out for your head in a really tough and climactic battle. The thing is, if you launch your way headfirst into this fight, you will be a foolish and frustrated mess! That’s why we’re here, to save your bloody skin (pun intended).
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is chockablock full of these b**tards, and they are bloody deadly if we do say so ourselves! Now, you might think of yourself as a great player, but we know if you don’t get some help, you’ll be flat on your ass, flailing about with no head. This is why we are here to guide you through the fight with Leofrith, so pay attention!
I Can’t Find Him! Where is Leofrith?
Well, come on, couldn’t you at least figure this out yourself? You need to follow the quest ‘Heavy is the Head’ in the region of Ledecestrescire. The quest begins at the location on the map below, and you must follow the quest a few steps before you inevitably face off against Leofrith. Trust us, once it’s time for this you should stock up on supplies – plants and rations – this one’s damn tough!
Phase 1: PARRY, PARRY, PARRY!
When Leofrith starts attacking, don’t go shying away, but also don’t rush headlong towards him – that's not a clever idea. You need to go on the defensive. As the title suggests: PARRY, PARRY, PARRY! This ain’t too hard, so don’t complain to us if you fail, try again. He is very fast, though, so pay attention to the orange symbols just before he strikes.

If you keep doing this, you will keep reducing Leofrith’s stamina, and this will allow you to get some attacks in and deal some damage. Just keep in mind the tricks up his sleeve. If there is a red glow, dodge and DON’T try to parry, you’re shield won’t work and you will just get hurt. If he glows blue, don’t attack because it is a trap. Instead, take out your bow and shoot him a couple times. Serves him right!
Phase 2: Well Now THIS is Where it Gets Hard...
This phase begins once Leofrith’s stamina bar is alllllllllll gone! Now, don’t bother being defensive. The problem is that Leofrith gets quicker and insanely hard to hit! Oh, he also deals more damage so that’s fun...
Attack the b**stard! Show him NO mercy! When you parry his attacks, strike back super quick to try to get a hit in. When he gets defensive fill him with arrows, or use a powerful ranged attack if you have one. The trick to this fight is patience, don’t over commit with too many attacks, you'll get hit and it doesn’t take much to deplete your health.
One hot tip is to use a heavy-hitting ability when you get enough Adrenaline Points, which can deal a ton of damage. Other than that, relax and be patient. Use tons of parries, attack as fast as you can, and use whatever abilities you have to throw him off his feet – those extra seconds of damage as he staggers are crucial!
To Valhalla? Or... What?
The trickiest part of this article, is unlike your buddies over on Reddit, we don’t much like spoiling games for people. So: we are going to make this brief, with as few spoilers as possible. If you have a problem with that, don’t worry about the rest, just focus on the fight.
Once you have defeated Leofrith you will be given two options: to kill or to spare him. Personally, we recommend sparing Leofrith as it opens up some secrets and reveals some pretty interesting information! If you complete this quest, it can even have an impact on your quest for Excalibur (we won’t spoil how), which you should definitely check out!
Now, the biggest thing to note is the following ‘Hunted’ quest, which is a lot of fun and yields a lot of high-end loot. We recommend sparing Leofrith as if you kill him, this quest does not become available...but that is about all we’ll say.
In the meantime: GOOD LUCK! Leofrith is quite a difficult boss, but the key takeaways are strike fast, but fight slow. You need to focus on parries and slowly whittling down his health until you succeed. The biggest challenge is not getting hit, so follow our advice, and don’t be an idiot...
