It seems like it wasn't too long ago that everyone was up-and-arms about a Tweet former G2 Esports CEO Carlos Rodríguez sent out of him partying with Andrew Tate. Now, Riot has also revealed their ruling against the former player and owner.
On September 17, 2022 Carlos Rodríguez sent out a tweet of himself partying with Andrew Tate. That much is known. The backlash was immense, as well as his own response which garnered even more attention. Since then the former League of Legends player has lost.... a lot.
G2 Esports suspended Carlos and he has since stepped down from his position as CEO of the esports organization. Now, Riot has also revealed their results of their own investigation into the matter.
Riot Ruling on Carlos Rodríguez
Riot opened up their own investigation into the matter shortly after G2 Esports suspended the former CEO for eight weeks without pay. On September 19, 2022 the LEC opened their investigation wherein they looked into the behaviour of the former G2 Esports CEO.
The LEC's investigation was to see whether article 9.2.5 was harmed by the member of G2 Esports. Article 9.2.5 reads as:
Team Managers/Members may not give, make, issue, authorise or endorse any statement or action having, or designed to have, an effect prejudicial or detrimental to the best interest of the League, Riot Games or its affiliates, or League of Legends, as determined in the sole and absolute discretion of the League.
According to the investigation and the final ruling by the LEC, Carlos Rodríguez did have an effect on the League, as well as Riot through his behaviour, which is why they've come to the conclusion that Article 9.2.5 was breached.
Carlos Rodríguez will not be able to hold any managerial or operational position with a team or org until November 12, 2022. Not only that, but he will have to undergo sensitivity training and executive training with an independent third party that is not involved with G2 Esports, the LEC or Carlos Rodríguez himself.
