The LCS had a turbulent weekend. Cloud9 released head coach Nick “LS” De Cesarejust hours before their first game of the weekend, and an unsuspecting team has earned first place. What happened over the weekend in the LCS?

LCS Without Controversy? No Thanks.
Just a few hours before Cloud9 was set to take the stage against Counter Logic Gaming, the team was informed that LS was being released. The news seemed to rattle the team as they looked unstable against the last placed team. CLG used this opportunity to gain their first win of the season.
C9 did manage to beat TSM, though it wasn’t as clean as most fans would suspect this match-up to go. Meanwhile, CLG had to face defeat in the final game of the weekend when they faced Team Liquid.
TreeQuest Is Back
FlyQuest didn’t have the greatest season in 2021, but it seems they’ve bounced back this year and are working hard once more for the environment. They have brought back the TreeQuest initiative and with two wins this weekend, they are now tied for first place in the LCS along with Team Liquid.
TL finally got to go on stage with their full lineup after CoreJJ was granted his NA residency. The team looked good and after the news of LS leaving C9, many fans have placed their hopes on Team LEC to carry the LCS to victory.
The Bottom Pack
Evil Genius looked great during the Lock In tournament, but have struggled throughout the LCS regular split thus far. They’re in third last place with a record of 2-4. Only TSM and CLG, who are 1-5 are worse off.
Will they be able to find their form and overtake Golden Guardians and Dignitas who are 3-3 after the third weekend of the LCS? EG has the capacity to go even further, but the team has to find their rhythm to be able to compete at the same level as the others.
