If you're already annoyed with the new "feature" from the Amazon Fire TV Stick that automatically plays video ads as soon as you turn it on, here's a quick guide to solve the problem and how to stop the autoplay ads.
Turning on your Amazon Fire TV Stick and immediately being hit with an autoplay ad for a Prime Video show may be good for Amazon's revenue, but users have been annoyed with it from the very beginning. Thankfully, there's an easy fix for the bothersome "feature."
How To Turn Off The Autoplay Ads On The Amazon Fire TV Stick
Being bombarded with autoplay ads as soon as you turn on the TV is simply annoying, so we highly recommend the following steps to turn them off:
- Start the Amazon Fire TV Stick and navigate to Settings (press and hold the home button on your remote)
- Go to "Preferences"
- Select "Featured Content"
- Turn off autoplay for video and audio.
And that's it! You can turn off the autoplay ads in less than a minute. The settings will save and if you restart your Amazon Fire TV Stick , you won't get an immediate ad. Instead, you'll only see some preview images. Of course, you can still watch trailers for stuff you're interested in by simply clicking on the preview.
Keep in mind, these new settings only disable the autoplay ads you get when you boot up the TV Stick. Depending on your membership, you'll still get ads before or during the movie or show you're watching.
