Popular Twitch streamer HasanAbi recently defended his use of a Cuban racial slur on stream, not missing the chance to take a shot at his former friend Destiny.
HasanAbi made a name for himself as the biggest political commentator on Twitch, being a self-proclaimed communist and left-wing advocate. Due to him not shying away from controversial takes, (like how America deserved 9/11) he has repeatedly been a hot topic and is often involved in drama on the platform.
Now the 32-year-old has taken a somewhat controversial stance once more, as he defends his use of a Cuban racial slur, while also calling out his former friend Destiny in the process.
HasanAbi Defends His Use Of Racial Slur & Takes A Shot At Destiny
During a recent stream on Twitch, Hasan "HasanAbi" Piker was reacting to a YouTube video, when a message in the chat caught his eye.
In that message, a user explained how his friends had taken offense at Hasan using a Cuban slur, "gusano", to which the streamer responded by laughing, and explaining how that's not a real slur to him.
What? Gusano? Okay. Cuban G-slur, what the f*ck? It means worm, dawg. It's like a political f*cking take. It means counter-revolutionary.
Hasan then proceeds to make fun of the user for referring to the word as a slur, comparing it to the C-slur "cracker", which is a derogatory term used for white people. The term's status as a slur is highly controversial, as the ability of minorities to be racist towards white people is often called into question.
Gusano is a pejorative term first used by Fidel Castro towards Cuban counter-revolutionaries or people who fled Cuba following the Cuban Revolution. The term was also often used in hate crimes against anti-revolutionary Cubans and has therefore been labeled a slur.
It seems like Hasan's standpoint on the matter is pretty clear, as he continues to make fun of people referring to "gusano" as a slur, taking a shot at Destiny in the process.
That is always funny, when you got the N-word manifesto guy talking about slurs and how inappropriate it is, while simultaneously advocating for the right to be able to say the N-word as a white guy
For those of you who didn't know, Destiny has been advocating for him being allowed to use the N-word in conversations about the word. Although Hasan doesn't specifically mention Destiny's name, his example is oddly specify and given their turbulent past, this might just have been the first thing that came to his mind.
