ARK 2 won't be released in 2023. While that's obviously bad news, we do have a new release date and some more info on a remaster for ARK: Survival Evolved.
We've all been waiting long enough for the successor of the popular survival game ARK: Survival Evolved to be released. The game was announced almost three years ago and supposed to launch later this year. This won't happen, though, as the developers behind ARK 2 have just pushed the title back even further.
While the game isn't dead (unlike E3 2023), this obviously sucks, and we won't be able to play the next game in the ARK series for a long time. However, there's some good news as well: ARK: Survival Evolved is going to get remastered! And it's releasing this year on next gen consoles and PC!
ARK 2 Delayed, ARK 1 Remaster In Development
In a recent blog post, the developers behind ARK 2 – Studio Wildcard – announced that the game won't launch in June of this year, as it was initially planned. Instead, the survival game's supposed to be released in late 2024 at the earliest. Why? Well, the developers have claimed technical challenges with the new Unreal Engine 5.
Our goal is to make ARK 2 the best game it can be and provide a truly exceptional and rewarding experience for players. Unreal Engine 5 is incredibly new technology to us (and all developers), and we aim to use this cutting-edge tech to its fullest potential while creating a game with never-before-achieved scope at Studio Wildcard. As we learn more about the engine and develop the sequel, we have adapted our workflows and adjusted our pipelines to accommodate this new next-generation paradigm, and because of everything that involves, we need more time for development.
You can check out the complete announcement right here. Now to the fun part: To make the wait for ARK 2 a bit more bearable, the developers have also announced a remaster of the original game. It will be called ARK: Survival Ascended and launches on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC in August 2023.
What's special about the remaster is that it will also use Unreal Engine 5. You can expect ARK 1 to look more beautiful than ever before! There's also a bundle, containing both the remaster and ARK 2. In a way, by buying the remaster of part one, you're automatically pre-ordering part two. You'll also get access to the beta, one month before the game releases.
