We Could Have Had Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4 Remakes...

It seems that due to a merger Vicarious Visions was disbanded and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4 with it.

Vicarious Visions has worked on the previous Tony Hawk Pro Skater games and even released a remastered version of the first two instalments. But what hurts to know is that we could have gotten even more remade content.

In a recent stream by andyTHPS, fans got to hear first-hand what happened with the remakes of the third and fourth game in the series from none other than Tony Hawk himself.

Blizzard Merger Caused Vicarious Visions to Disband

While Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 are considered some of the best remakes of all time, we likely won't be getting remakes for other games in the series due to the studio that worked on them being disbanded by Blizzard.

Vicarious Visions was merged into Blizzard by Activision and had to focus their attention on Blizzard games like Diablo II: Resurrected. According to Tony Hawk, right upon release of the Pro Skater 1 + 2 remakes, they had initially planned for 3 + 4 to also get remade and re-released.

I mean that was the plan, you know, even up until the release date of [THPS1+2] we were going 3+4, and then Vicarious got kind of absorbed, and they were looking for other developers, and then it was over.

Hawk also stated that while Activision looked for other developers to remake the games, none of them were good enough. The pitches were not up to standard for the series, and thus it was dropped.

[Activision] were trying to find someone to do 3 + 4 but they didn’t trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios, like “what would you do with the THPS title?” and they didn’t like anything they heard, and that was it

The community is also pretty upset to find out about this, many hoping that Microsoft would reverse these decisions once the merger is complete so that fans can play the remastered version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
