Ubisoft issued a refund on every order for the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake. What's going on?
So... I don't know how many of you played Sands of Time back in the day, but... that game was a revelation. Prince of Persia was the business back then - the first one, as well as its sequels. Though the sequels did get the 'let's make it dark for no reason treatment' like many games randomly got at the time (looking at you, Jak & Daxter), the franchise was always fire, before it just... disappeared. Now, with Assassin's Creed as big as ever, and Ghost of Tsushima making waves, the time is right for Prince of Persia to come back. So... Ubisoft went ahead and issued refunds on every preorder...
Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake: Canceled?
I don't know about you, but where I'm from, canceling preorders just screams that the game is entirely canceled. In this case, though, that's not the case: Ubisoft merely canceled the preorders, since the game does not have a release date. They did however promises to reopen preorders once they figure out when to release that game. You know... professionals, and all...
This is the third delay for the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake, since it was announced in 2020. Also, the game changed its developing studio within Ubisoft. Sounds like trouble to me, but... for nostalgia's sake I like to think that the remake will still turn out finer than the original.
