Another high level executive has left the Overwatch 2 production: Chacko Sonny has parted ways with Blizzard, and follows in the footsteps of Jeff Kaplan.
Oh, Overwatch. The game that was, and the game that never will be again. I mean, seriously, the last time I heard something good about Overwatch 2 was way back when it was announced. Since then, Jeff Kaplan has left, Blizzard turned into Bill Cosby's fan club, and now another executive left the game's development. No matter how you look at it, Overwatch 2 is primed to be the worst sequel since Ted 2.

Executive in Charge of Overwatch 2 Leaves Blizzard
Yup, read that headline again: Executive in charge. Have you ever heard of a coach leaving a team mid-season, and them winning the championship? If you have, keep it to yourself, because I need this metaphor.
The executive in question is Chacko Sonny, and, yes, that's a badass name. We don't know if Chacko is leaving because he's tired of the Bill Cosby jokes, or because he's got some skeletons in his closet, or because Overwatch 2 is such a mess. With the state Blizzard is in right now, anything is possible, though Mr. Sonny seems to suggest that burnout is the reason.
Now, Blizzard obviously feels right at home with instant damage control these days, and they didn't miss a beat: According to them, Overwatch 2 is nearing the end of production and an update will be provided later this month. With the month only having about a week left, you can expect that update to come soon.
What Does this Mean for Overwatch 2?
I don't know, but it doesn't take a video game journalist to tell you that this is not great news. The two people in charge of Overwatch 2 left back-to-back like a Drake song, but, in this case, I don't see this game topping the charts anytime soon. Blizzard is a house-on-fire and Activision isn't helping much: They're the other half of that ugly lawsuit, and Black Ops Cold War wasn't exactly game of the year. With Diablo 2 Resurrection not lighting the world on fire, Warzone is all that they've got going for them and the company's future might just be riding on Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
I don't know about you, but if I have my last hopes pinned on something, I definitely wouldn't want two captains to jump ship.
Maybe that's just me though...
