There's another free-to-play game arriving onto the scene, and its name is MultiVersus. You can play as your favorite characters like Batman or Bugs Bunny, and fight against opponents on a 2D platformer like Super Smash Bros. Now doesn't that sound exciting?
PC Players have favoured free-to-play games like Apex Legends and Fortnite because they can avoid the significant costs of buying an AAA-title. Therefore, you can imagine the excitement that was created for MultiVersus.
For anyone who hasn't heard about MultiVersus, it's an upcoming 2D platformer meant to compete directly with Super Smash Bros and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. However, there's a significant difference between these games. Why might you ask? Because Warner Brothers is producing MultiVersus.
Characters from Warner Brother's collection of television shows and movies will be introduced into MultiVersus. We've already seen characters like Shaggy, Batman, and the Iron Giant from various gameplay footage that's been shown. But you can bet hundreds of characters will become available within this game's lifespan.
Those interested in playing MultiVersus on the PC won't have any challenges, as Player First Games has confirmed that their upcoming free-to-play title will be made available through Steam. You can download MultiVersus when it's launched into its beta phase on Steam in July 2022.
When Is MultiVersus Coming To The PC?
[Update: July 14]
It has now been officially confirmed, that the open beta of Multiversus will launch on July 26, with an Early Access option available. Find out more in this article.
We still don't have a date for the full release of the game, but this ongoing open beta can be considered as the soft launch for MultiVersus. Read on to find out everything else you need to know about the game.

Unfortunately, an official launch date hasn't been provided for the full version of MultiVersus. We've learned that everyone can download the beta version of MultiVersus this upcoming July. This is being considered an open beta, meaning there isn't any registration required. You'll need to wait until Warner Brothers have launched this game. However, that date of availability hasn't been provided yet.
It's noted that whenever MultiVersus is launched after beta testing, there will be bundled versions that consumers can purchase. These bundles will include various microtransactions and downloadable content for players to use. However, Player First Games hasn't detailed any of their potential bundles for MultiVersus.
Which PC Features Will MultiVersus Have?
Player First Games hasn't detailed any exclusive features that MultiVersus might have during its beta testing phase. However, there are features we can incorporate into our experience with MultiVersus. For instance, Xbox Cloud Storage can safeguard your achievements and matchmaking history through an online network.
Additionally, MultiVersus should allow everyone to create custom layouts for their keyboards and mouses. But it doesn't matter if this feature is supported, as numerous programs allow PCs to override the gamepad mechanics of any title, including MultiVersus.
It's suspected that we'll also see the following features incorporated into MultiVersus:
- High-Resolution Textures
- Modding Configurations
- Ray-Tracing Lighting
Unfortunately, these features have not been confirmed by Player First Games or Warner Brothers. But it's almost guaranteed, considering that modern-day titles will conventionally support high-resolution textures and modding configurations, like GTA5 or Just Cause 4. These games wouldn't have become famous without the inclusion of modding, meaning that MultiVersus could be losing out on a massive community by banning any mods.
Is MultiVersus Coming To The Steam Deck?
Player First Games has confirmed that MultiVersus is launching on Steam in July 2022. There won't be any cost associated with installing this game, and it's available through the Steam Deck. Multiple outlets like PC Gamer have shown that MultiVersus can be downloaded and played on the Steam Deck. Therefore, we expect this 2D platformer to become popular with the mobile gaming community.
MultiVersus will be supported through the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, with additional support for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You can also download this upcoming title onto your PS4 & Xbox One, meaning MultiVersus is available with every prominent console on today's market.
Anyone requiring additional information on MultiVersus can find a full debriefing on EarlyGame. We will discuss everything from the character classes to level design in this 2D platformer, and trust us; there's more to this game than you'd expect.
Game Trailer
Warner Brothers released two trailers for MultiVersus. These include the gameplay and cinematic trailer, which both provided a clear picture of what everyone can expect from this upcoming platformer.
We found the pairing between Superman and The Iron Giant to be most impressive within these trailers. It showed that anything is possible within the MultiVersus, and that's amazing.
