Kerbal Space Program 2 is taking longer to launch than first hoped.
Kerbal Space Program 2 has been delayed until "early 2023" announced developers Intercept Games.
The sequel to the hugely popular space flight simulation will now launch on PC in early 2023 with a console launch expected after that.
This is now the third time the highly-anticipated game has been delayed. When originally announced, a release date of 2020 was offered, which was then pushed back to fall 2021, and then in November of that year, to 2022.
Kerbal Space Program 2 Delayed Until 2023
The game's Creative Director, Nate Simpson, offered an explanation for the delays on May 16.
We are building a game of tremendous technological complexity, and are taking this additional time to ensure we hit the quality and level of polish it deserves. We remain focused on making sure KSP2 performs well on a variety of hardware, has amazing graphics, and is rich with content.
Simpson has repeatedly spoken about the technological leap Kerbal Space Program 2 is taking and how he wants the game to be a "reliable foundation" for players and modders for a "decade or more" after its release.
But fears that the developers might have bitten off more than they can chew were assuaged by Simpson in this recent update.
