Uniform-like System Coming to Halo Infinite, according to 343

Leaks suggest that 343 Industries are reworking the armor kit system in Halo Infinite, and maybe introducing Uniforms to the game in upcoming updates.

With Halo Infinite's Mid-Season Update offering no new content except for a sleuth of game-improvements and fixes, players are understandably looking towards the game's Item Shop for interest right now. The problem? Well, everything is unbelievably expensive and the weekly challenges add very little in terms of incentive to keep playing. Sure, we've had a few different events like Fracture: Tenrai and Cyber Showdown, but no new maps or weapons.

Wading through that disappointment can be a tough process. Months upon months of completing challenge after challenge, waiting in anticipation for that next drop of actual content. It's a common sight at the moment, and sadly not one that's singular to Halo Infinite. Instead of making actually good games, developers have taken to pushing out unfinished experiences like Warzone andFortnite and then basking in the glory of those ever-present microtransactions. Halo Infinite is the best of them, but still suffers from this disease.

It thus comes with little surprise that they're offering an unsurprising solution to a lagging problem: "Let's sell the buggers "Uniforms" instead of individual shoulder plates, that'll shut them up!" Guys, this one's a doozy, it's bound to annoy you, but we're going to tell you anyway. 343 Industries are introducing a bit more "freedom" in their cosmetic system, but also a new "Uniform" system.

Uniforms are Coming to Halo Infinite

343 Industries' Halo Esports and Viewership Lead, Tashi, has taken to Twitter to reveal that the team is working on a new "uniform" system to resolve ongoing problems with the game's cosmetics system. In the Tweet, Tashi confirms that 343 Industries are looking for an "elegant solution for the future" that will also "give some freedom".

Regarding the Kits: In talking to @hookscourt we definitely agree that we don't want them to be as restrictive as they are today. The team is working on an elegant solution for the future and will share more when we can. Goal is to offer the "uniform" but also give some freedom. — @Tashi343i via Twitter

So there isn't a huge amount known about this new system yet, with 343 Industries revealing very little about what this could actually mean. That being said, we do have a couple of little ideas to present to you, a couple of ideas about what this could look like in reality.

We imagine that Halo Infinite will likely get a set of customization features that will allow players to purchase "Uniforms" that will don them in an entire set of one specific type of armor. So, say you want to kick your feet up in some Mark IV armor, you would purchase the "Uniform" and you'd be all ready to go. Now, that set of armor would be customizable, so you could swap out pieces of it for others and customize the colors, et cetera.

It is certainly a preferable system to what they have now, but here's the deal: customization, cosmetics, and armor kits are already outrageously expensive. We imagine that if we are correct about this system, these "Uniforms" will probably retail for excessive amounts of money. Yet again, the developers will be pulling at our purse strings to try and get every penny they possibly can. It's to be expected, but it is pretty scummy.
